Hit YouTube for some great videos on making ringtones yourself using iTunes and your mp3 collection.

Are you able to use your computer iTunes personal music collection, or even the computer iTunes store?? I can't find any way this is possible on my laptop iTunes and/or store. What in the crap happened to the little ringtone symbol next to ringtone-ready songs??

This used to be so easy, even though the available songs/ringtones were limited, at least it was EASY!!!!!

There are several ways to make ringtones for the iphone.

    Google will find them.

    I prefer Garageband.

For Example: I am in the iTunes Store (on laptop), I go to 'music', then select hip hop/rap. Where from that page can I go to ringtones, or ringtone-available (?) songs?

I used to be able to do an advanced search, select 'ringtones', and all available ringtone-ready songs would come up, regardless of genre. Can I still do that??

    Thanks, frustrated. Teresa

Any song that is not DRM protected ( including all itunes + music) can be made into a ringtone.

I looked all over the help section and could not figure that out, so emailed a help question voicing my dismay at this. My answer from iTunes was that with the new iTunes 10 that option has been taken out and only precut excerpts are available - from the iTunes store via the iphone. They did ask that I submit feedback, which I did. Maybe if thousands of us voice dismay it might get added back in - or is that a stupid pipe dream?

I googled "iPhone ringtone maker" and got a ton of responses. Pretty easy, actually.

I went to garageband and made ringtones. I assigned the tones to different people in my address book. for some of them it accepted the tone, for others it plays my default. I have checked and rechecked. It has the correct song assigned but is playing the default one. When I test the song it is correct, when I have the person call me it is incorrect. Any help here? - thanks

I had already done most of this previously. This link was great and helped me get a few steps further - til step 9. Nothing seems to bring the tone to the phone.
