Hi, I have been trying to work a problem out. Firstly I approached BT and after loads of testing and time - they have no fault. It appears to be a problem somewhere between the hub and Mac. I have this setup:
Macboook Pro connected wirelessly to BT Business Hub Hub reports a download speed of 22mb (as I'm near the exchange) Tests online report the download speed of about 4mb I have the mac and a phone plugged into a filter and that's it
So somewhere I am losing loads of speed. Does anyone have any ideas? I have nothing else accessing my wi fi either.
It sounds like the BT hub is reporting the connection speed to your computer, while the download test is indicating that you're getting 4 Mb bandwidth from the outside world. There's no contradiction there. Are you really supposed to get 22 Mb bandwidth from the outside?
I would expect a lot higher than I am getting to be honest. Also, there is clearly a problem as the ethernet is nearly twice as fast. I've just ran iStumbler for interference and changed the channels and now it appears a little faster. Wireless it is about 5mb now. Not sure on ethernet.
