Oct 4, 2010 2:05 PM in response to eimzbushby Bentley Robinson,I have the same problem. Philips 32 PFL9604.The screen goes green and then a pink negative style picture. Would love to know how to solve this. -
Oct 5, 2010 1:05 AM in response to Arcade99by nomawie23,Did anyone call the apple service? I was in the waiting queue for about half an hour until I hang up -
Oct 5, 2010 1:27 AM in response to nomawie23by tod1212,got my apple tv 2 yesterday.
it runs fine with a philips LCD essence PES0001 (firmware version 101).
connected via hdmi - hdmi and an optical digital cable.
my tv is based on the philips models 7403 / 9603 / 9703 / 9803 / 9903.
so they all should run fine.
the last posts in this thread suggest, that there might be problem with the newer philips models with 4 at the end of the model number (e. g. 42PFL8694).

Oct 5, 2010 3:17 AM in response to tod1212by rainy82,Turned off the screen saver and the auto sleep function of my ATV. Working fine now for over 2 hours. Can't tell though whether it's just a single lucky trial or whether that solved the issue. We'll see. Maybe others can give that a try, too, and tell if it worked. -
Oct 5, 2010 3:26 AM in response to rainy82by stuntman_mike,see my previous post above - in my case it just worked for one evening. On the next day, same sh...
Maybe one should send a note to Macnews or Maclife regarding this issue to make it more public. -
Oct 5, 2010 3:40 AM in response to rainy82by TKanne,Called them, they were not aware of the problem. After that I mailed the lady I was talking to the same thread at fscklog.com. Regards! -
Oct 5, 2010 4:15 AM in response to TKanneby tod1212,probably not an apple problem.
as more and more posts are coming in (e.g. on the german site: http://www.fscklog.com/2010/10/problemberichte-zu-neuem-apple-tv-an-philips-fern sehern.html#comments) it looks like this problem is a philips problem with all of their newer "4"-models (e.g. 7664 or 9604). -
Oct 5, 2010 5:00 AM in response to tod1212by nomawie23,maybe *not only* an apple problem but definitely an apple problem because only AppleTV initiates the problem -
Oct 5, 2010 5:11 AM in response to dwagner1270by Goosebuster,I had the same problem with ATV2 and a Philips LCD and no solution. -

Can anybody confirm the workaround ("solution")? I don't have a hdmi output splitter for testing -
Oct 5, 2010 5:58 AM in response to nomawie23by rainy82,Tried it with a splitter on Saturday. Didn't fix it. Actually, I don't believe it's a "Philips-only" prob since it happens with my Sony TV , too. Don't even think the missing link can be found with the TV but with the ATV. -
Oct 5, 2010 8:14 AM in response to rainy82by HeyJP,I think I solved my problem. Different HDMI Cable.
I have a 40" Sony XBR HDTV that is 2 years old. Had been using a Belkin HDMI with my ATV1 for 2 years with no problem.
I unplugged the ATV1 and plugged in the ATV2 using the same cable. Immediately started getting 1-2 second black screens every minute or two on the Sony. Occasionally, it would go black and stay. The audio continued.
Didn't suspect the cable since it had worked fine with ATV1 for 2 years.
Just tried a different cable, and the ATV2 worked fine for 2 or 3 hours with no hiccups. Went back to the Belkin cable, and immediately saw the black screen glitches.
So I think I've solved my problem.

Oct 5, 2010 9:19 AM in response to HeyJPby Arcade99,Lucky you but unfortunately this is not a general solution for the combination of ATV2 and Philips TV (at least with a 4 and the end of the product Number) -
Oct 5, 2010 12:13 PM in response to Arcade99by Globe&Trotter,New ATV arrived - intermittent green screen with Sony Bravia.
Tried different HDMI cables - no difference.
ATV sent back - will wait for Apple to sort out the problem.
Frustrating that the product was released with this known fault.
