New machine, moved all my data over, updated all the software, tried re-installing OS from disk and then doing Software Update, tried reinstalling iTunes 10, nothing works. I can't see any of my music even though it's all there. So I finally took my 27" iMac to the Apple Store to have the Genius Bar take a look at my iTunes problems. No one there knew how to fix it and said this was a new issue for them. I also have a problem with iPhoto where thumbnails open to a black screen even though the photo files in the library are fine and open with Preview and other apps. No luck there either, also a new issue they hadn't seen before.
The Apple Store employees said they contacted Apple engineers and sent them log reports for the iPhoto problem and were told I would need to do an erase and reinstall of the OS myself. They hope the iTunes problem will be solved by this as well. The store employees were very nice and tried hard but it looks like I'm on my own.
I haven't done the reinstall yet and will post again after I try it.

These kinds of issues makes Target Disk Mode useless. I wasn't looking to reinstall all my apps. I tried installing an older version of iTunes but it wouldn't install. So annoying... it feels like maybe it's an old graphics driver from our old machines lurking somewhere, since it's clearly a display issue (although you can't search for songs so maybe not...). Currently Being ModeratedOct 10, 2010 8:41 PM (in response to annaified)I reinstalled apple os from Snow leopard disk, I'm not computer savvy but I know it's old because it only cost 30 bucks. Subsequently I had two Quicktime icons and one had to go, so I deleted the older version. It never occurred to me that I also have two versions of itunes and one of them I did not recognize. This new version would not display my songs no matter what quick fix I discovered on the web and upon hitting the playlist button it crashed. I have a brand new ipad from a newly rich cousin who passes on new tech like a old pair pants, it's 16gb wi-fi model and it will not connect. I have a brand new ipod(the one with the video camera) and it sits empty. I also have a older version of the ipod (shuffle I think) that's worn and the cord is frayed but it's filled to brim(1.80gb) and I dare not plug it up. And to think I was going trade in this old Macbook.macbook4.1, Mac OS X (10.6.3), 2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo

I had a hard drive crash (under warranty). I got the laptop back with the new hard drive and got all my data back from my Time Machine. The only thing not working correctly was the iTunes.
I get the white screen when I click on Music or Movies. I can hit play and fast forward and music plays, I just can't see the list of songs. When I click on iTunes store, I can search through music and even buy something, but if I then click back to the Music tab in iTunes, the screen is all janky and eventually goes white again.
Seems like some sort of iTunes bug to me and is really frustrating when you have 15Gig of music with no way to play it....MBP, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

I just bought a new Macbook Pro yesterday....upgrading from an early 2008 Macbook. I plugged in my Firewire 400/800 cable and moved roughly 150 GB of data over.
Everything appears to have migrated over correctly, except this darn iTunes issue.
I'm on iTunes 10.0.1 (22) and OSX 10.6.3

It seems like users that had the issue previous to 10.6.4 saw it fixed with the update. The combo update packages are sort of a silver bullet for Apple troubleshooting when all else seems to be failing.

Currently Being ModeratedOct 11, 2010 6:45 PM (in response to annaified)My problem with iTunes 10 was similar to the rest: Clicking on Music: just a blank screen. My "Personal Radio" folder was empty too. Resizing the page left way too many ghosts. Clicking on "radio" under Library at the left margin of iTunes showed no radio stations when there should have been a dozen or so categories.
I did re-install Snow Leopard and updated to the newest 10.6.4...this seemed to restore the iTunes for me, but I am keeping my fingers crossediMac intel, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Neither did the trick. Currently Being ModeratedOct 12, 2010 3:00 PM (in response to mrfett)Well this is a weird one! Fortunately I haven't suffered this; but I know it'd drive me mad! Certainly sounds like something is corrupted somewhere.
Just some random ideas (close all open applications first):
- run Disk Utility to verify permissions and disk
- run Disk Warrior if you have it
- run your favourite maintenance utility (eg. Onyx, Cocktail, etc.)
- Uninstall all haxies
- Uninstall growl (I had lot of weirdness until I got rid of that!)
- Remove iTunes plug-ins
- Remove any third party visualizers
- Rename artwork folder (~/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork). Or delete it - you can get the artwork back later in iTunes assuming you get it working.
- Rename the library file (~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library) - next start of iTunes should recreate it although if I recall correctly you'll lose the play count
- temporarily disable anti-virus software (and then make sure it's up to date)
- check available disk space - if you're running out then you might need to prune a bit (a long time ago the rule of thumb was always to have at least 10% free - I don't know if that's still valid)

I migrated everything from my Time Machine and iTunes has the music there, but is showing a blank (white screen). I've deleted everything, reinstalled iTunes, moved the old library for detection etc., and nothing works. I do not have the cam.cam Quicktime file.
