Q: New superdrive / combo on PB G4/400

Hello everyone, I would like to replace my DVD player on the mercury G4 / 400 with a combo drive or better, with a superdrive, I think this should solve at least problems reading some CDs and DVDs burned me and then if the cpu it also allows you to burn something. But the problem is ... what the serial number for letters make no mistake, all I found on ebay but do not really know how to choose the correct drive.

Thank you in advance for the help

Finding replacement optical drives for the 400MHz and 500MHz Titanium models in particular has become more difficult now that those models are ten years old. Drives that fit into every other Powerbook G4 model won't fit into those two. I have no idea at all where to find compatible drives in Europe.

I recommend that you just buy an external FireWire-equipped drive instead of trying to replace the internal.

Thank you for reply but i think to have solved.

The tip seems to be the bracket rather than the drive, i boucght a combo in ebay UK for just 12 euros, seller grants it works and fits, hoping for the best
