Sep 1, 2010 2:36 PM in response to KrisChanning DeWyzeby louie,The drive may have decided it can no longer get enough power from the USB bus of the computer, which would cause such symptoms.
Try the drive on another desktop computer to check function
Try the other USB port on the Powerbook
Try a powered USB hub
Try the WD optional dual USB cable for added power -

Can I ask you, how you solved your problem. Because I have bought wd passport 1 T and it's work for a while, But today my mac book don't recognize it. Even I went to the disk utility it's not show it.
I deleted smart wave because I was thinking that its problem because of that.
But I don't know what the problem is?
Can anyone help me?

Oct 12, 2010 1:46 PM in response to edijazbyby elenaismyname,I am also having this issue with my 1TB WD passport. It is not showing up in disk utility. The drive also does not have a SATA drive but has a proprietary port connected to the board. The smartware issues are associated with updates but most people had this issue with the Snow Leopard update and I have 10.5.8. I would be really grateful for any advice as I have already explored the WD discussion forums. -
