Oct 14, 2010 2:56 AM in response to Joost40by BatterseaDog,Same problem. AppleTV2 goes pink/inverted after about 20 to 30 minutes. Switching HDMI sources returns the picture to normal. London UK.
I haven't logged a call with Apple as I assume this issue will be resolved through a firmware update. Like others I don't have this HDMI problem with any of my other devices. -
Oct 14, 2010 3:02 AM in response to Arcade99by chriso89,this happens to my twin brothers tv too. its a philips 46pfl9704 or somthing. its a led pro tv. on my 2 year old panasonic plasma it works fine -
Oct 14, 2010 4:01 AM in response to Arcade99by milovaig,Add me to the list of problems, Apple TV and Sony bravia
Seems to kick in after about an hour, and then every 20 minutes. Pausing film, pulling hdmi cable out and refitting does the trick as a temporary fix.
Tried changing cable - no better.
Has anybody had any luck with a replacement unit? -
Oct 14, 2010 4:13 AM in response to milovaigby Robert Farthing,I've got a Sony Bravia, but it works with that o.k. It's the Homeshare that I'm having issues with.

Oct 14, 2010 4:23 AM in response to Arcade99by milovaig,I have tried the cable in different sockets, and there is no difference. Is the hdmi channel a setting on the tv, as I cannot see anything on the apple tv for this. -
Oct 14, 2010 4:31 AM in response to milovaigby KeithJenner,This is interesting. I have two Apple TV's both connected to Sony Bravias. All equipment is brand new.
One is connected to a 40EX403 and has had no problems at all.
The other is connected to a 22EX302 and does have this problem.
I have changed the HDMI cable and done a reset, which I'm not expecting to help, based on comments here. I'm just testing it now though.
Assuming the problem is still there, I will switch units and see where the problem ends up. I have a small irrational fear that doing this will somehow make them both suffer from it, but I think it needs testing to try to narrow down the cause. I'll report back later. -

Oct 14, 2010 5:18 AM in response to chriso89by KeithJenner,Thanks, that's good to know.
I know it won't be a problem, but it still makes me nervous doing this sort of thing. -
Oct 14, 2010 8:55 AM in response to KeithJennerby KeithJenner,OK, I've finished checking this now.
As expected, changing the HDMI lead didn't solve the problem. I have now swapped the two Apple TV's over and the result is as I imagined it would be.
When either Apple TV is plugged into by Sony Bravia 22EX302 it suffers from this problem. When either is plugged into the 40EX403 they are OK (one has been OK for days and the other for about 2 hours now).
From this test and what I have read on various forums, I think that we can be fairly sure that the problem is some sort of handshaking issue between the new Apple TV and some TV's. My guess is that if you suffer from this problem with a particular TV then changing cables or even returning the Apple TV for a replacement will have no effect because it is a software issue.
This presents those of us with the issue with real problems. We are reliant on an update coming along to fix the issue, but Apple could probably legitimately point to the fact that it works on the vast majority of TVs to say that it must be an issue for the TV manufacturer. The TV manufacturer can say that as most other HDMI products work it must be down to Apple.
To try to get some movement here, and to help Apple to identify the specific problem, I think it may be worth people noting down the exact TV they are using and whether they are suffering from the problem. The easier we make it for Apple to identify the issue the more chance there is that they can come up with a patch.
I'll start off:
Sony Bravia 40EX403U - Works fine
Sony Bravia 22EX302U - Suffers from this problem.
By the way, I do probably have the opportunity to return the TV at the moment and get a different model. However, I like the TV and it's good that both my sets have similar menus/controls etc. From peoples experience, and if anyone has knowledge of these sort of connections, what are the chances realistically of it getting sorted out? If a solution doesn't come along then I really need to try to return the TV. -
Oct 14, 2010 9:01 AM in response to KeithJennerby Kwintin,Ok then,
Sony KDL-37P3600 is a problematic model -

This is what the technical support of Apple asked us
1) What is the make and model of you TV?
2) Your cable setup (HDMI, DVI adapter, etc).
3) Whether or not there are any inline 3rd party devices (is Apple TV connected via HDMI to receiver then from receiver to TV using HDMI).
