Hi, How can I Zoom In and Zoom Out a photo?
I didn't find any options to do this... I try Command"", 2 fingers in trackpad, but nothing.
I think this is a basic function in a photo software... in iPhoto09 it was possible.

Thanks
Gustavo

This is a huge problem, I hope it gets resolved quickly in an update. You used to be able to zoom while in full screen. Apple has changed full screen around a lot in this new version--and lost zooming capabilities along the way.

You can only zoom the photo in the edit mode, either regular or full screen.

Exactly. That's the problem. Why should I have to "edit" a photo to zoom in. This is a feature that has been lost in iPhoto '11 that was in the previous version. To add to this you are unable to view your photos in a true full screen mode without toolbars.

Again, I hope Apple corrects the zooming issue quickly in a software update. The Internet is documenting many issues with the new iPhoto, but I think this is the most fundamental lapse of judgement by the engineers.

No. I still have the previous version and you can't zoom into the Photo except in Edit Mode.

I just checked my iPhoto 09 also and the Edit mode is the only place you can zoom.

In the thumbnail mode the 1 key just moves the slider to the far right reducing the number of thumbnails viewable in a row, a very minimal zoom. It's not like the zooming available in the Edit mode with the 1 and 2 keys.

In iPhoto 11 in the thumbnail mode the 1, 2, 3 and 0 keys moves the slider between the far let and the far right in what appears to be in 30% jumps, more steps than in iPhoto 09. In the Edit mode the #1, 2 and 0 keys move the slider between minimum, midpoint and max.

Both versions are close to being the same but not quite.

Don't know what you're referring to with iPhoto 09. Can you be more specific?

In iPhoto '09 you can go into full screen (without any toolbars) and then freely zoom in and out without entering the edit mode.

With iPhoto '11, Apple has changed fullscreen to look like an iPad application. There is no true fullscreen without toolbars and you can't zoom without entering edit mode. In edit mode you have even more tool bars getting in the way.

Again, my point here is to encourage Apple to fix these loss of features with a software update to iPhoto '11 ASAP.

True, Zoom to an individual photo was lost a few versions ago. Now full Zoom shows you smaller photos. The work around is to double click a photo, it will then get big, but it's not full screen.

It's too bad to have to go back and forth on this. The point here isn't to grumble amongst customers, it's to get Apple's attention and promote a software update to fix the lapse in engineering judgement.

This is a pretty simple concept to grasp. The fact here is that Apple drastically changed the full screen view. There is no way to have a true full screen experience--without toolbars. Also, you can no longer zoom in and out of the photo you are viewing in full screen.

Knowing that the engineers had to rewrite the full screen view, it's an obvious oversight that they forgot to include the possibly "not-so-often" used feature of zooming while in full screen. Not being able to get rid of all toolbars might have been a conscious decision, but this should be revisited by the team as well.

And the best way to get Apple's attention is to send them Feedback. They do read it.

Agree, the zoom feature is really hidden and not as useful in 11 due to the lack of it's availability in the full screen view.

Also, 09' was superior in full screen in that it would allow you to view the image without the tool bars and icon thumbnails at the bottom. I'm thinking about going BACK to iPhoto 09!!!!

I just sent a Feedback to Apple regarding this issue.
