Nov 7, 2010 1:52 PM in response to abigail88by talice90,I am still getting the message that the store is temporarily unavailable and i cannot go through by entering who im searching for.
Is anyone else still having this problem as i do not know how to fix it -
Nov 7, 2010 3:02 PM in response to abigail88by rpm0494,I have been having this problem for several days as well.
After contacting Apple regarding this problem, I received the following reply:
I understand that you are getting an error message when you try to connect to
the iTunes Store. I can imagine how eager you must be to get this resolved. I'm happy to help you.
I've noticed you're still running iTunes 8.0.2. Support for the older
versions of iTunes is being phased out, and I believe it's the version that is
likely causing your issue.
Upgrading to the latest version of iTunes (10.0.1) should resolve this issue.
If the issue persists after installing the latest version, please reply to this
email and provide a description of the issue as well as the text of any error
messages you receive. Thank you for your patience and have a lovely day!
Please notice that the representative said they BELIEVE it is the old version I am using that is causing the problem and upgrading to version 10 SHOULD resolve the issue. So the really have no clue (right now) what is causing the problem or no incentive to find a solution other than telling us to upgrade.
Now if I upgrade, one of two things will happen. 1) I upgrade and still encounter this problem, which does not help me. 2) I upgrade and I encounter a catastrophic problem much like I encountered last time I upgraded Itunes.
Obviously this problem is not affecting everyone who uses Itunes or else the problem would have been solved days ago. Since it only affects an unknown percentage of us, and doesn't affect Apple profits, there is no immediate need to address/correct. I guess my only recourse is to have a lovely day. -
Nov 7, 2010 9:11 PM in response to b noirby Flying Bison,So much for hoping coming off Daylight Savings Time would fix the issue APPLE IS HAVING.
I can still work around the problem but it is still frustrating. Apple's techs are coming across as either highly ignorant or highly suspicious during this whole escapade.
I, for one, have no intention of upgrading, since many people who have still have the same problem.
If Apple is losing revenue because of this all I can say to them is "Have a lovely day." -

Nov 9, 2010 1:34 PM in response to abigail88by abigail88,Oddly enough, the error message I get when trying to access the iTunes store home page and music page has changed.
It now reads:
"Your request could not be completed. The item you've requested is not currently available in the US store."
It also occurs whenever I click to go to the Pop page.
Anybody else receiving this message? -
Nov 9, 2010 4:48 PM in response to abigail88by theknowledgeofus,I was having the same problem. I upgraded my iTunes to version 10 and it works now. If you are having this problem with iTunes 7, upgrading will fix it! -

Yes, exactly the same thing...message has changed. Note that this is not an error message per se like the previous unavailable message.
I find the whole thing very strange and as mentioned, as an Apple shareholder, also disappointed with their lack of response.
Despite what the previous poster stated it seems some have upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and it did not fix the issue so I'd rather not at this point. I still can get in by searching an artist. -
Nov 9, 2010 5:53 PM in response to abigail88by thej-dog,been having the same problems, anybody know whats going on -
Nov 9, 2010 7:28 PM in response to thej-dogby unky dan, uninstalled all anti virus, turned off all firewalls, uninstalled itunes 10, downloaded it again an installed it same d@mn problem... this is ridiculous... -
Nov 9, 2010 8:11 PM in response to talice90by Flying Bison,The really stupid part of all this is, if you get around the issue by going to Podcasts, you can get into any genre of music (alternative, classical, etc.) Apple's problem only prevents one from getting to the general music store page. -
Nov 9, 2010 11:53 PM in response to abigail88by yensed,EDIT~~ Apparently iTunes 10.1 is to be released on the 12th. This better be fixed before then... http://bit.ly/dhTf4G
Glad to see I'm not the only one having this issue. It has happen to me a couple times in the last few days too where I couldn't access or purchase anything for about an hour. A couple days ago, I tried buying a song on my ipod touch and it kept trying to buy a single as a ringtone and would say nothing but "waiting" instead of actually downloading. I just got my bill and it says I actually downloaded it as a Ringtone and was charged 99-Cents for it when I never even downloaded it successfully. And with the store not working at all right now, I can't even report the issue. *** Apple, Get your stuff together...

Nov 10, 2010 4:26 AM in response to charliedukeby spiring,It seems to be a complex problem, in that different solutions seem to work for different users (and no solutions for some). I can confirm that updating to the latest version of iTunes solved the problem for me, on two computers with different operating systems (other computers in the household never had the problem to begin with). But that doesn't mean that the upgrade itself solved the problem, only that something I did during the upgrading process solved it.
Others mention in this thread that an upgrade didn't fix the problem.
EDIT: In answer to this:YOur the only person who has updated and it solved the problem ??I have the same problem and your sure updating to lastest version solved your problem???? Alot people still in the Dark?? Could u please verify that updating to the lastest version solved your problem???
