Q: Apple Hardware Test 2.0.2 for PowerMac MDD 1.25 Single.

Hello people,

No amount of searching has helped me to locate the individual disc image that shipped with this model of Mac that I want to test.

It's the last 1.25 single processor MDD released in 2003. I'm not sure, but I think the part number is:

OS X 10.2.7, Hardware Test 2.0.2, part#691-4567-A

Is there just one version of AHT 2.0.2 or model specific versions as well?

Cheers, R.

G4 1.42DP MDD, 2GB, 120GB, x800XT, 10.5.8 Server, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 5500 Director (250), 6100 (66), G3 Minitower 233 + Desktop (233), B&W G3 (350). LC, LCII

I have a G4 1.25GHz single processor MDD model. The Software Install & Restore DVD that came with it has Apple Hardware Test version 2.0.2 on it.

Here's what the AHT Read Me file says:

+Apple Hardware Test diagnoses and detects problems with your computer's internal hardware components, such as the logic board, memory, modem, video RAM, and AirPort card. It does not check external hardware components, such as USB devices or FireWire devices, and it does not check non- Apple devices, such as PCI cards from other vendors. Apple Hardware Test also does not check for operating system (OS) or other software-related problems, such as application or extension conflicts.+

+Apple Hardware Test for Power Mac Version 2.0.2 is distributed with Apple Power Mac computers introduced in 2003 only. It does not work with other computers.+

I tried to retrieve the AHT files from the DVD using Pacifast. But I could not find it. Is it an invisible file? Has anyone been able to retrieve it from the DVD?

     Cheers, Tom

Hi Tom, except for the read me, they're hidden files for one, & I think there are special Boot sectors, I believe you have to image the whole Disc.

I've misplaced my 10.4 discs and need an AHT ASAP. Are they not on the Snow Leopard discs?

Hi Mac of Anxiety, and a warm welcome to the forums!

Sorry, AHT is not on any of the Retail OSX Install Discs, only the original Install Disc(s), or in your case a separate CD.

Thanks for the response. I have the disc for a Macbook Pro, for the 10.6, both of which have the AHT, but not the 10.4 iMac w/ an AHT. Cannot find anything on an Apple page to download either. If someone knows where to find a decent .dmg file, I would be very happy.

Here's the list and downloads for AHT for some G4 models if you don't find yours, some G4s only have it on the Original Install Disc...

You might want to try Apple Service Diagnostic which is far more powerful than apple hardware test for the following reasons:

Unlike AHT which if it finds errors for you its often displayed in cryptic, hexadecimal format.. the ASD tells you in plain english what the error is and these are what I use.. Let me know if you are interested.. I can further assist you with this matter. I have helped many in your situation and they are happy to get their machines back up and running.

Sadly, you won't find AHT programs at all except for on the applications dvd/cd which come with every new Mac.

Here is how you find the AHT...

/Volumes/Applications Disc/Library/Install/Packages/.packages - this is how I find it on my 2010 mac pro disks, but yours might be different.

I've got a used iMac 17" USB 2.0 that's having some intermittent kernel panics. Anyone know where I can find the AHT disc for this model? Mactracker says it uses "AHT (iMac) 2.0.2". Thank you.

Did you get the system DVD that came with your iMac? If so, it's on the DVD. There is no download source for AHT 2.0.2.

    Greetings from Canada,
You can probably guess the rest...
It would be greatly appreciated if someone could email the Apple Hardware Test 2.0.2 for the G4 PowerMac MDD. I forgot to request it from Apple when they sent me the replacement OS X 10.4 Software. Email: panoramicpb@yahoo.ca
    Thanks!!!

    Hello,

I have them... if you want them let me know... PROBLEM: Hotmail will not allow me to upload anything higher than I think 2GB..

APPLE NO LONGER HAS ANYTHING POWERPC related.. this goes for G3, G4, AND G5.. I asked them two days ago and they no longer have any disks for anything other than INTEL.
