Nov 9, 2010 12:48 PM in response to Joelwwby Joelww,I don't know why that last post posted without the information in it but anyways.
I have recently put a second hard drive in my computer and move all video music and audiobook files into that drive when I click on an audio book or video requiring quicktime I get Error -43: a file cannot be found then the title of the file so I open quicktime and open file directly pointing to it and same error.
I have found that if i copy the file to my desktop or any location on the original hard drive it will play but not on my second drive.
any help or explanation would be appreciated.

Nov 9, 2010 2:15 PM in response to Joelwwby Jacumba,★HelpfulI've had the same error -43 when installing a second hard drive. What usually happens is a drive is named in a way QT cannot recognize. For example my primary drive is named (C:) I installed a second drive named (F:)(F:) when changing the drive letter to a single (F:) which it should have been named anyway, then QT was able to recognize the files and play them. So check how you have the secondary drive named -

Nov 10, 2010 2:45 PM in response to Joelwwby b noir,Nice catch Jacumba and Joel.
The A:\ and B:\ drive letters were reserved in earlier versions of Windows (and MS-DOS) for floppy drives. So probably best to avoid using those two letters for hard drives. -

Nov 24, 2010 9:37 AM in response to Joelwwby jh317,Just to add to the discussion and for anyone else that may find this, I've encountered this same error while exporting out of Quicktime Pro. The workaround that gave me success was to remove ALL underscores from both the source and destination file name, and also limit the number of characters in the file name to 21 or less (source and destination file, not including extension). -
Nov 30, 2010 3:04 PM in response to jh317by Jacumba,Joel, I was aware that -error 43 could be generated in how a drive letter was being used. I was not aware of the other cause that you pointed out, and error-43 has come up fairly often here. Real nice job in researching this and posting it. Perhaps it should be added to the user contributed tips?
