I've done an upgrade from 10.6.4 to 10.6.5(10H575) and skipping the "574" version. After rebooting my users received thousands of emails probably related to dovecot delivery.
I tried plain vanilla postfix and dovecot config files only turning on my original mail store with the same effect.
I did a second update with the combo updater to verify and repaired all permissions. I also emptied all defer / queues in postfix:

Nov 16 22:57:55 server postfix/smtp[5488]: 08B0D4A82F27: to=<username@domain.example>, orig_to=<username@localhost>, relay=[]:10024, conn_use=32, delay=837, delays=305/516/0/15, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 2.0.0 Ok, id=06190-01-32, from MTA([]:10025): 250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as AC3264A8C510)

Has anybody else seen this problem and found a solution?

Just updated to 10H575 and no problems. However, I'm only running IMAP mail which didn't seem to be affected by previous build either.

Are you sure you are on correct build? Apparently there was a bad link in an earlier apple KB post which sent people to the original (bad) combo updater instead of new one.

To check build, bring up About This Mac and click the 'Version 10.6.5' text under 'Mac OS X Server' (apologies if you already know this).
