Nov 22, 2010 11:10 AM in response to Ovitoby Ovito,- Ignore my question, I now see that airport express/time capsule connected printers aren't supported.
Seems like that should have been a basic part of the airprint facility?! -
Nov 22, 2010 11:14 AM in response to Ovitoby Julian Wright,This will help you: http://www.ecamm.com/mac/printopia/ -
Nov 22, 2010 11:26 AM in response to Ovitoby IamBacktoMac,Boy I agree, printing should not be this hard...
I am hanging printers on Time Capsule and just does not make sense not to be able to use them. -
Nov 22, 2010 11:29 AM in response to IamBacktoMacby Barbara Brundage,Try printopia, linked in Julian's post. In any case according to apple, airprint only lets you print from mail, safari, and photos, so it's pretty lame even if it supported all printers.

Nov 22, 2010 11:31 AM in response to Ovitoby Ovito,I'm now using Printopia which is really quite good - although it is a shame that I can't print without having my macbook turned on.
As far as the usefulness of airprint is concerned, I use Pages and Numbers on my iPad quite regularly and the ability to print documents from those two apps would be really handy. -
Nov 22, 2010 11:33 AM in response to Barbara Brundageby HP Mac Architect,At the moment, AirPrint only supports printing to printers that are AirPrint enabled. The list of such printers can be found in the following locations:
http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/airprint.html
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
And while there may only be 3 In-OS Apps as you pointed out (Safari, Mail, Gallery), there are over 100 other Apps that have already enabled AirPrint. Hopefully we'll get that list up later today at:

Nov 22, 2010 11:35 AM in response to HP Mac Architectby Barbara Brundage,Yes, I know, but that's what apple says in their kbase document. I use forscore and that now shows a print option, but it's not going anywhere, at least for me, without printopia or the like. -
Nov 22, 2010 11:38 AM in response to Barbara Brundageby HP Mac Architect,If you update to the latest version of forScore, it should support printing. I do not know where they have put the print feature, but the latest update from them does list AirPrint support.

Nov 22, 2010 11:41 AM in response to HP Mac Architectby Barbara Brundage,Yes, sorry I wasn't clear. I do see print in the menu, but since I have no printer that is an HP, airprint is useless to me.
Incidentally, do you have any interim suggestions for windows users with newer HP printers that aren't on your list yet? -
Nov 22, 2010 11:59 AM in response to HP Mac Architectby Anthony J Howe,I was actually surprised that airprint on the iPad & iPhone 4, found my printer that's not even a network printer. It's simply connected to my iMac via USB The model is HP photosmart C5380 series. However it is shared on my network, via system preferences.
I choose an email on the iPad and it printed out no problems. I then went to iPhone, choose photos, picked out a photo then print, and then it actually printed a photo in the upper photo tray box. So obviously the HP Photosmarts printers work. -
Nov 22, 2010 11:52 AM in response to Barbara Brundageby HP Mac Architect,That are officially supported, no, I don't have any interim suggestions for you. There are other posts here (even in this thread) of people having alternative suggestions however.
Andrew -
Nov 22, 2010 11:54 AM in response to HP Mac Architectby Barbara Brundage,Right, but the "other suggestions" seem to consist exclusively of getting printopia for mac, which won't help Windows folk any, unfortunately. -
Nov 22, 2010 11:59 AM in response to Barbara Brundageby HP Mac Architect,Ah true. Missed that part of your question. Short answer is there is no supported way of doing that, and I have not seen any alternative way either.
Just trying to help.
