I've done everything in the Amazon FAQ and Troubleshooting (pretty sure I have anyway). But none of their stuff mentions this particular anomaly. As stated, downloads fine...Early 2009 Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.6.5), G4 Sawtooth; 10.4.11; several upgrades
The .amz file isn't the music, it's just a reference to it. It's supposed to open the Amazon Downloader, which actually downloads the music file(s). Have you installed it? If so, you could try reinstalling it.

Yes, I downloaded the Downloader and reinstalled it. Actually, I don't believe one can download an Amazon MP3 without the Downloader; I believe an "error window" pops up.

Yes you can. (I do it all the time.)
The Amazon MP3 store, and almost all the online music download stores that I have used other than iTunes, allow you do download tracks from your browser, without the need for additional software. Some people find the Amazon downloader to be a convenience, but it is not required.Windows 7, and 16GB Nano
I am also having the same issue. The files download fine, and I can double click on the files and they will start playing in iTunes, and they even show up in the recently added playlist... but I can't see them in my library. Any ideas?MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

The files should be in '(user)/Music/Amazon Downloads' (the default, unless you have changed it): they should also be copied into the iTunes library, though there is a setting to enable or disable this in the Amazon Downloader preferences.
