Currently Being ModeratedDec 1, 2010 6:27 AM (in response to Daniel Slagle)I wish it were that easy. The thing is, I have NO videos in iPhoto, but, upon opening, the app scans endlessly for videos in iPhoto. Maybe I should give iMovie a movie to find in iPhoto??macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.5)
Currently Being ModeratedDec 1, 2010 6:45 AM (in response to jeb)Close iPhoto and iMovie
I am not having the issue but I deleted these files to reset iPhoto.
I would also wipe the plist and caches for iMovie. http://unofficialimoviefaq.com/tt/problems.html

Currently Being ModeratedDec 2, 2010 6:28 AM (in response to Daniel Slagle)Thanks for that info. I went to the site, deleted pref. files and did a cache cleaning, restarted computer. iMovie still insists on trying to update iPhoto video events.macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Currently Being ModeratedDec 2, 2010 9:56 AM (in response to Daniel Slagle)That would be a good idea to try also. I ended up called Apple and spent over an hour on the phone. The problem was with my iphoto library. I had to do about 5 rebuilds of my library and also do permissions repair before I was able open iMovie without hiving it stall on the error messagemacbook, Mac OS X (10.6.5)
Currently Being ModeratedMar 2, 2011 8:20 AM (in response to jeb)I've also had this same problem and was never able to fix. Tried rebuilding my iphoto library... I also migrated to Aperture and have this set as my default for pics and now imovie stalls during the same process "updating aperture video events". Always stalls in the same spot about 1/3 of the way through.
The only thing that has worked for me is to rename my aperature or iphoto library file name. Then imovie doesn't see the library and skips this step. However as soon as you launch aperature or iphoto and it asks you where you library is, this will start to happen again.
