Dec 3, 2010 9:02 AM in response to bigatomby Doug Barber,I would like to know if this is possible also....
I changed from Mac mail to outlook for Mac 2011 about a month ago thinking I would like the outlook program better than the Mac Mail. But a month later I'm finding this move was not the best and would now like to move my (outlook) inbox back into Mac Mail and use it again.
Any idea on how to allow this to happen?
Thanks

Dec 6, 2010 2:58 PM in response to Doug Barberby SdeBruijn,I got the same issue. I'm currently investigating 3 possibilities for which I need feedback from people who have experience with these programs:
1. PST Converter Pro
2. ConvertMyMail
3. O2M
Does anyone has experience with one of these tools?

Dec 13, 2010 2:33 PM in response to bigatomby MacDaddy 13,There is an easy and free way to do it. All you need is a windows computer. The link is at:
http://www.trickyways.com/2010/08/how-to-transfer-emails-from-outlook-to-apple-m ail/
I have done this numerous times and it works perfectly. On older versions of Thunderbird you have to move each mailbox separately, but in the end everything comes over and it is free. -
Jan 10, 2011 11:53 AM in response to MacDaddy 13by Lumberslave,Hi,
The link doesn't allow me to do what I want to do - transfer emails from OUTLOOK FOR MAC to MAIL within the same computer. I thought the originally this was the question??? I can't find any answers to this anywhere.
I switched to Mac recently and bought Office for Mac 2011, and started using Outlook for my email, thinking I would like it. I'm trying a lot of different things out, and MobileMe is one of them. It seemed to me it'd be easier to use Mail than Outlook for Mac to sync using MobileMe. How can export emails in Outlook for Mac to Mail? -
Mar 22, 2011 9:33 AM in response to jlwhittenby DLR,It crashes far too often. Crashes when trying to delete folders from the trash. Crashes when trying to move an email to another folder. Won't delete certain emails. When it crashes and insists that you rebuild the database, it will sometimes go into an endless loop of rebuild-crash-rebuild-crash, etc. I have even had it mysteriously delete the identity entirely. Gone. Not in the trash, gone! -
Mar 22, 2011 9:46 AM in response to bigatomby leroydouglas,Maybe there is a work a round for your situation.
Set up an IMAP Gmail. Move messages from your Outlook folders to a folder in the Gmail account. Then import back to Mac Mail.
Just a thought. -
Jun 1, 2011 12:48 AM in response to leroydouglasby MacChia,I thought this would work as well, and it does for the most part. It is not necessary to import the email back into Mac Mail after moving them from Outlook to the IMAP Gmail account since adding that IMAP account to Mac Mail will synchronize the email with both programs. However, there is one problem I have encountered that may or may not be an issue for some people. It appears that emails moved from Outlook local folders to an IMAP folder does not retain the original Date Received information. Instead, it uses the date the email was copied/moved to the IMAP folder. This is unacceptable for my purposes since the date is critical to keep a proper history of email conversations. If you add the Date Sent column to the folder list, it does show the correct sent date.

Jun 16, 2011 12:45 PM in response to bigatomby JChp53,There is a longish way to do this.
In Outlook, Select the folder you want to move (If there are folders within the folder, you have to select each individual subfolder, as the subfolders won't copy along with the main folder, only the messages in the folder will copy). Click and drag the selected folder (ex: inbox folder) to a new folder on your desktop. I couldn't figure out a way to select all the folders, so i dragged each folder and subfolder from Outlook into the folder on the desktop. Once you're done copying all the Outlook folders, open up Mac Mail. Go to File --> import mailboxes. Then select "Files in mbox format" and click continue. Then select desktop, and the folder you dragged all of your Outlook folders into. Hit "Choose." Mac Mail will import all of these folders, and when it's finished, will tell you that they are under the folder labeled "imports" in Mac Mail, and you just have to move all your subfolders back into their main folders.
Like I said, it takes a little while longer than I would like, but it worked for me and now I have all my old mail from Outlook in Mac Mail.
Hope that helps (and that I explained right)!

Jun 16, 2011 12:47 PM in response to bigatomby Csound1,Outlook for Mac has no useful export functions (.txt for contacts & .olm for all else)
Is your email imap, exchange or pop?

Jul 11, 2011 6:54 AM in response to SdeBruijnby TheHood,Hi,
I just noticed your message and given the time lapse you may have already found an answer.
I can tell you that O2M works perfectly and did an excellent job for me when moving a client over to Apple Mail from the 2003 version of Outlook.
