Just the same problem: colours switching to almost-negatives every 5-10min and then back again to normal.

Didn't have the some problem with the some appltv in another house where the internet connection is 4times slower.
Big and diffuse problem needs quick response from Apple! -

Dec 14, 2010 4:07 AM in response to klumanby ttcobalt,Had similar colour problems with a Pioneer television and went into the HDMI setup for the nominated input (in my case input 4) and found that for some reason the input had set the video to 3 colours (automatically?) - I don't know but I changed the setting to automatically assess video and low and behold it now works fine -
Dec 14, 2010 4:32 AM in response to Arcade99by jhahl,Same problem here with a brand new Sony Bravia: KDL-40EX402AEP. Default settings on the TV, Apple hdmi cable. If I change the source on the TV and then change it back the color issue dissapears for another 10-20 minutes or so. Have not updated firmware on TV, seems like a mess to do since it has no internet connection. -
Dec 14, 2010 1:39 PM in response to Arcade99by Louiecypher,Just downloaded the software update (14th Dec'10). Holding my breath and crossing my fingers but no pink screen in fifteen minutes!
Aaaaaaw, just as I typed that it went wrong again. -
Dec 14, 2010 2:08 PM in response to Louiecypherby Dugfrisk,Same here. Installed update but inverted colours after 10 minutes. Sony Bravia 26". -
Dec 14, 2010 2:59 PM in response to Dugfriskby steve_acp,Installed update, ran for 55 mins. Philips 9664.
Does anyone know what this update is supposed to do? -
Dec 14, 2010 4:13 PM in response to Arcade99by Abeghe, just updated atv with no results .... : sony KDL-32S5600 with the latest firmware update installed (M5.163).

Dec 14, 2010 11:09 PM in response to Arcade99by Massimo Briggi,Just update atv2 don't solve HDMI problems, very bad. My tv Sony Bravia KDL-37P5600 -
Dec 14, 2010 11:36 PM in response to steve_acpby Louiecypher,According to Apple's support documents, the 4.1.1 update addresses "an issue that causes some high-definition TVs to incorrectly display at 480p" and "an issue that may cause a movie or TV show to be re-downloaded."
So nothing to do with our problem, then. -
Dec 14, 2010 11:41 PM in response to Arcade99by SigveK,New TV (Sony KDL-40EX600) and a new Apple TV.
My jaw dropped to the floor after less than 5 minutes use, when the inverted/greenish colors appeared.
If I had found this thread before buying the ATV, I would not have bought it. -
Dec 15, 2010 12:24 AM in response to SigveKby CesarOne,As this is a forum in Apple site, I suppose someone from the staff following it. And, as the problem has already been reported by hundreds of users, I would expect a short message from them as "ok guys, we know we have a problem, we're working on it..."
Does anyone know if something like this has been done?
Must add that I also have a 1st gen apple tv since it came out and I've never had any sort of similar problems, so, even if I'm a MD and not an engeneer, it really seems a problem of HDMI interface. -
Dec 15, 2010 1:16 AM in response to CesarOneby r_andy,Can anyone say that the handshake-problem appears only on certain tv-brands or on certain circumstances?
Initially there were only philips-tv-problems, now there are more and more sony bravia problems...
Does it appear only on new tv-models or also old ones?
Does it appear also on LAN (cable connections) or only on WLAN-connections? -
Dec 15, 2010 2:10 AM in response to r_andyby Mats Liljedal,Hi r_andy,
it appears on several brands (Philip, Sony, Sharp, Samsung, ViewSonic) and certain models of these brands. I know at least two lists of affected TV-sets on this thread (just scroll). Newer models seems to be more affected then older ones. LAN or WLAN doesn't matter, it appears with both connections. It's actually quite »funny« but the search for the reason of the issue and the trials to solve it starts at same point of this thread about every 14 days and it always ends the same. No solution. If you have got the time read the complete discussion and you will get the complete picture (and some garbage).
As I see it it is an Apple problem, hard- or software and if it is a software problem ... strange they don't just solve it.
I have posted a few things on this thread, posted feedbacks to Apple, talked to Apple support (general tec and Apple TV tec, Apple store) three times and finally sent my Apple TV back to Apple and believe me (i'm repeating myself) they don't know how to solve it and they don't have a time schedule on it.
I'm waiting for Apple TV3. -

Yes, Apple is aware of this, I posted their response here in the forum but Apple moderated it (reason: it was supposed to be a private email to myself only).
I simply submitted the bug to Apple: https://bugreport.apple.com/
After a few days they responded and acknowledged the issue.
