Dec 15, 2010 3:39 AM in response to KeithJennerby r_andy,Do you think it does help if we make a List (maybe in a new thread) where we collect important facts about the circumstances where the apple-tv's work or doesn't work?
There are some users (hopefully the most part) that haven't problems with the device. For example ttcobalt wrote that he had similar colour problems. He went into the HDMI setup for the nominated input and found that for some reason the input had set the video to 3 colours. Changing the setting to automatically, now it seems to work.
So maybe we could make a list:
Device: AppleTV
Firmware: ...
TV Brand: ...
Model: ...
Handshake-Problem: Yes/No
LAN/WLAN: ...
Digital Audio ON/OFF: ...
Country:
hdmi i/o settings on TV:
hdmi i/o settings on ATV:
ecc...
could this maybe help?

Dec 15, 2010 4:03 AM in response to Arcade99by maaboe,Count me in. I'm having the same problems with my aTV (2nd G) and my Philips TV. I upgraded the TV to the latest firmware yesterday and I've just upgraded the aTV to 4.1.1 but unfortunately the problem persists.
I'm really hoping Apple solves this issue soon because the only device I've ever experienced having problems with my TV is my Apple TV. A number of DVD- and Bluray-players all worked without a glitch. -
Dec 15, 2010 5:08 AM in response to r_andyby Mats Liljedal,Ofcourse the list would be helpful. For Apple, if they are working on it. It has already been said from others, send your comments and data to: http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html
call Apple, talk to people, spread the message: _+Apple go fix it!+_ -
Dec 15, 2010 9:43 AM in response to r_andyby swiss_dom,why doing a list...they even don't answer the thread! really bad behavior...apple! i thought about to send back but i mind the time and circumstances...!! grrrrr
i just tested it on my second tv, it's a philips 42PFL7404H almost 2 year old with no update on tv. just after connecting - green/red inverted.
My master tv is a Sony... worse luck! -
Dec 15, 2010 12:12 PM in response to r_s_rby Sterni_2010,.. the same problem after update 4.1.1.
Bad job! -
Dec 15, 2010 2:06 PM in response to rainy82by CesarOne,That's what I also tried: unplug the digital audio but the problem didn't solve.
Tonite I upgraded software on apple tv.
Some problem with photos streamed from my macbook but not during one hours' rented film watching.
That's quite strange, isn't it? -
Dec 16, 2010 1:34 AM in response to r_andyby dadudeness,Although it's absolutely clear by the fact 4.1.1 just didn't address this issue, just for the sake of completeness:
It didn't fix my colour issue either.
Still most recent TV-sets firmware (M8.722 I think)
Sony KDL-32ex402
ATV2 4.1.1 connected via wifi to Apple Airport extreme
Optical out disabled
Color inversion issue every 2-40mins. -
Dec 16, 2010 2:29 AM in response to Arcade99by decsramble,I had been hoping Apple would fix the Apple TV with the next software release but it appears they haven't been too concerned about Philips and Sony TV users who cant use the device for more than 20 minutes. They seem to have prioritized other problems like for people who CAN use the Apple TV but get a lower resolution than they would like. That is two software updates with no fix for those of us who CANT use it.
The only glimmer of hope I see is that Apple have put out 2 updates in a short amount of time so hopefully they will eventually fix this problem as well. -
Dec 16, 2010 2:48 AM in response to decsrambleby KeithJenner,There is no evidence that Apple are prioritising other issues.
Not all problems take the same time to resolve.
From the reports that people have given from talking to support, they do appear to be taking it seriously, but it looks like they are struggling to find a solution.
Are you suggesting that they should hold back other easier fixes until this one is resolved? -
Dec 16, 2010 3:53 AM in response to KeithJennerby harrykausl,Hello,
I'd like to buy a apple-tv. Did anybody test it as working in combination with a Philips TV 47PFL9732. I phoned to Philips and they told me, that with this old TV they don't know any problems. Can anybod confirm this, before I buy. Thanks a lot. -
Dec 16, 2010 3:56 AM in response to harrykauslby dwagner1270,As it is a Philips TV you are most likely to see the problem on that TV. -
Dec 16, 2010 4:03 AM in response to dwagner1270by harrykausl,But it's a elder TV, therfore if someone has testet it, please respond, thanks
