This morning my iPhone 4's recurring alarm went off at 7am as expected. A short time later, the one on my iPod Touch 3rd generation also went off. After turning both off, I set a new alarm on the iPod for 8:30am and one on the iPhone for 9:00am. Both of those went off as expected too. Both devices are running iOS 4.2.1.

I saw this thread and didn't quite understand what people were saying, then I realized that I was using the 3rd party app "Awaken" as my alarm, as it has other features that the internal alarm doesn't. It appears that this is only an issue for the stock clock app alarms.

I have the same problem as NRB73...

NRB73- Yesterday my alarms were working perfectly, today (Now 01/01/2011) they don't work at all. The time comes and goes and the alarm doesn't activate.

I am running iOS 4.0.2 - I never updated after hearing of problems with alarms funnily enough.

If I add a new alarm it doesn't work; if I modify an existing alarm, it doesn't work.

    What's going on?! Help.

It's a very strange bug!!! The same with my 3GS (OS 4.2.1). Same problem with IPhone 4 (my sister). I've found the solution in a IPhone 4 Apple discussion: set the alarm with weekly repeat and it work again! Don't ask me why... I thing that's a OS bug, started with a new year. I hope that Apple will fix it very soon!!!

Apples fault the first day, your own fault the second day, did you think the problem might get better over night?

I also have this problem and it caught me out once, not twice.

I can also confirm that in Switzerland the iPhone alarms stopped working at the changeover of the year. Cannot imagine how to fix this but all the people I know with iPhones have the same experience. Tomorrow is going to be a national disaster of lateness to work! I imagine not everyone has realised, as most people do not work on weekends and therefore do not use the alarms.

Its quite annoying. But I was always using the "LED Machines" app for alarm:
    http://www.ledmachines.com

I have peace in mind. Its far far better than the built in alarm and the alarms always ring on time.

Funny I was about to come on here and ask the same question about my alarm suddenly not working, but then I saw a stint on it on msnbc.Apparently, this bug only affects single alarms, not recurring ones, and supposedly according to Apple it should fix itself on the 3rd. You'd think that since things like this have happened before with the alarms not working properly, Apple would have foreseen a possible glitch and had a bug fix for it BEFORE it happened...

It is about time apple apologised to everyone for their useless Alarm. Then Fix it and stop messing everyone around by taking their hard earned money and delivering something sub standard. We should follow Apples example and sue!

I have an I-phone 3G version 4.2.1 and the alarm stopped working before the New Year. I called in to the Apple shop today in the Trafford Centre and nobody was able to help me!? They also did not mention anything about the apparent problem caused over the New Year!
Can anyone tell me how to fix it?
    Thanks
