Q: Powerbook will NOT eject disks

However, I have heard that if you turn your Mac off and leave it off overnight, the stuck arm may retract on its own. I think the arm is there to prevent you from inserting another disc if there is already one in the drive, but apparently it can get stuck.

Lots of helpful tips there: I resorted to the last entry eventually, although I had to be more brutal that I wished to be. I used a credit card and a sharp, very thin letter opener (metal) and used them like tweezers to force the disk out.
It wasn't easy, but I did it.
However, now I'm left with a machine that continually tries to eject an imaginary disk, over and over again. But the disk has been forced out by myself.
Is there some function using terminal that I can override this command?

I don't know of a terminal command, although there may well be one. I never use terminal, so someone else will have to help you with that one.
I'm not sure just how all of this works mechanically. Evidently you somehow managed to trigger the eject mechanism. Have you tried something simple like a restart or even shutting down for a short while?
