Trying to login to Mac Mini Server ( 10.6.6 ) from a Mac 10.6.6 MacPro. User name on MacPro is bsmith, user acct on server is billsmith. MacPro happily connects with server as bsmith, and I can't find any way to get the darn thing to give me a dialog box to manually enter the billsmith name whilst in the Finder.

Anyone know how? Edit a .plist?

    you could try to one of the following:

    1. if your problem is that the authentication dialogue upon connecting to your server does not show up, go to applications > utilities > keychain access > login and delete the relevant entry for your server, next try to connect to your server again;

    2. in workgroup manager, give your user entry another shortname, e.g. bsmith;

    hope this helps.
