Q: HDMI Handshake problems every 20 - 30 minutes - Color Inversion Issue

Dear all,

I used the old ATV for a long time and never had problems with it. Yesterday my new ATV 2 arrived. The setup was very easy but after a few minutes a problem with HDMI Handshake occurred and repeats at least every 20-30 minutes:

I get a green screen for one or two seconds and then the picture appears again with some kind of inverted colors.

I use a Philips 40 inch 7664 LED LCD with the newest firmware installed.

Any idea what I could to to fix this issue?

Thanks

What HDMI switch did you get? I have a Monoprice switch that seems to work well.

The problem occurs every few minutes, and the Apple TV under these conditions is unusable. Apple I never expected such a lack of interest.
    Total disappointment.

Considering that there are apparently revisions in the beta of the next Apple TV iOS update to address this issue, it's hard to see how you infer a lack of interest. If they've actually come up with a solution, I'm impressed that they did it so fast. HDCP is incredibly complicated, and sporadic failures tend to be the most difficult and time consuming to diagnose and debug.

this is your fix for apple tv 2 and all other devices like Xbox, PS and so on, i had the problem with inverted colors and i tried all "suggested solutions" with no luck and spent hours after hours of testing on my Philips 56PFL9954!! almost going CRASY!!
**But there is one thing that REALLY WORKS !!** HDfury3 and HDfury2 this little thing fixes the problem, no green screens for even 1/10th of a second, no black screens or flicker pauses, nothing!! just really good picture quality and it supports sound in both stereo and 5.1 dolby and DTS.
i bought HDfury3 HDMI to VGA or Component (i use component).
its not cheap but trust me its worth it, no more testing and trying just enjoy a good movie !!
it supports 1080p. see more info at HDfury.com
i think the IOS beta 4.3b looks hopeful but will see it still to bee released, any way the problem is solved for me.
good luck further to you out there.
cheers and spread the word !!

Can confirm that IOS beta 4.3b with RGB High, works perfectly as suggested by previous users.
    My tv Philips 32pfl9604.
No green screen no nothing, perfect watching all the way through.
    2 full length movies.

Thanks Apple, better late than never.

Problem is, we're not all developers. How can we ordinary Joe Schmoes get their Apple TVs working before the beta goes out of beta, and when is that likely to happen?

You don't need to be a developer...
See some of the previous posts referring to avforums posts and follow the instructions.
If you do decide to do this remember it is only a beta and therefore a bit unstable in general, but the color inversion is solved.

It might be useful to post the link to the discussion on this topic - there are so many forums there that I found it difficult to work out which one would cover it! However a search found the link, which is http://www.avforums.com/forums/apple-tv/1398654-apple-tv2-hdmi-issues-colour-inv ersion-hdmi-issue.html.

Ah, right. It's still there at the moment so perhaps it'll disappear later. Hadn't read there was any objection to doing this, must have missed something!
