Currently Being ModeratedJan 27, 2011 2:30 PM (in response to Heathermb83)See if you force the phone into recovery mode:
Turn off your phone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone to turn off. If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. After restoring from backup, you must sync to restore your iTunes content.MacBook Pro

Currently Being ModeratedFeb 14, 2011 2:16 AM (in response to wjosten)I have the exact same problem. I deleted Facebook app and it froze. I powered it off, but even after I hold Home and Power, it won't turn on past the Apple logo.
I completed a "Restore" as described w/ newest iTunes installed but then after that, itunes still won't recognize it as a device and i'm back to where I started. I am still stuck at the Apple logo even after having Restored it.
I tried charging the phone via AC for a couple of hours, but still nothing. Could the battery be dead dead?
Whenever I try plugging the phone into iTunes, it is not recognized and when I hold the home and power buttons for a long time, that recovery screen w/ the graphic of the USB cable to iTunes logo comes up...even though I completed the Recovery/Restoration.
Any ideas other than taking it in?
Thanks!iPhone 3G, Windows XP

Currently Being ModeratedApr 15, 2011 3:07 PM (in response to wjosten)Hi,
Thank you so much for your help. I was following your instructions and couldn't wait to get my iPhone working again. But in the process, with just five minutes to go on iTunes, my iPhone lost connection just like that (I didn't disconnect it or anything).
So I tried repeating the process again from step one by holding down the home button and the power button at the same time to turn it off. Now, it doesn't turn off at all. The screen just dims a little and the apple logo reappears again. Could you please help me on this one? THank you.

I had the same problem too. I have a 3GS with the latest software installed.
The facebook app screwed up the phone. I deleted the FB app... then reinstalled about one hour later. My phone kept on hanging and wouldnn't open other apps, so I did the forced shut down. After turning on the phone it only shows the apple logo and my laptop / iTunes will not recognize the phone. I can't even do a restore.
What can i do?

I just downloaded the new version of the Facebook app today (10/10/2011), and when it wouldn't finish downloading I just reset my phone, and the same problem came about. I hate having to restore my phone THIS close to the iOS 5 release, but it can't stay in "logo mode" forever....I need my iPhone!! Anyway, thanks so much for the help!!

Thanks. I had the same issue today. I was able to restore my phone. I also noticed I didn't lose the data from some of my apps. Thanks again! My Facebook app now works too.

I just had this happen as well, after the latest Facebook app update. I had to plug it in to my computer while holding the home & power buttons for ~ 30 seconds before it would restore. Thanks for the tips, now I just wish I could restore my contacts (never synced with this computer). Bummer!
