The iPhone automatically clears memory if it is running low and it will clear stored Safari pages. If you have a newer device you may want to clear your multitasking bar, as the "suspended" apps might be using a lot of your memory.
It doesn't happen as frequently with Opera since the webpages are highly compressed and take up less memory.iPhone 4, iOS 4, MacBook Pro (5,5) Mac OS X 10.6.6
