Q: IDVD has lost main menu sound.

I restarted my mac, I deleted and readded a sound file and I cant get the sound to work. Even when I change themes the preset music is not playing. When I preview my project, the sound is missing as well. Any thoughts? Maybe I muted something and wasnt aware? The menu volume is all the way up too. Help?

Try starting a new iDVD project.

    Hi,

I was just at the end of completing a DVD - and lost the Revolution theme music on the main menu however the music still worked on the sub menu.

I was able to recover it by dragging the Theme Music (via iTunes) to the Inspector audio drop box.

    Recovery steps...
__1. Steps to copy theme music from iDVD Application directory to iTunes
_____a.) In iDVD, click on Project->Project Info
_____b.) Look for Audio files related to the theme you are using (In my case Revolution-main)
................Ex: Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD 7/Revolution-Main.theme (*you just need the path for finder*)
    _____c.) Open Finder to path
_____d.) Drag the Revolution-Main.theme (this is my case, you may have a different theme) to iTunes

__2. Steps to drag music from iTunes to iDVD main menu..
____a.) In iDVD edit mode, while on Main menu, click the Inspector button.
____b.) The Audio box is a drop zone. Back on iTunes, select the Theme music and drag it to the Audio drop box.
    ____c.) Close Inspector

Click on iDVD Play to confirm fix.

There may be a better way to do this. I was under a crunch, trying to fix it anyway that I could.

I arrived at this page because I had the same problem. After I took a closer look at the menu again I noticed there is a transparent icon over the small thumbnail in the menu that appears after you double click the dvd menu.

I pressed it and my sound came back. I believe it is like a mute button.

OK this sounds like a really good fix ... but I have no clue what you are talking about. "Double click the DVD menu" --- what specifically does that mean? i.e iDVD has menus. the DVD project has a menu screen with buttons that are menu buttons on it, and then iDVD control buttons below it, the DVD player control that pops up when you hit the play (preview) button has a menu button ... Do you mean one of those, or yet something else?

A small thumbnail in the menu - thumbnail of what that contains what?

Not trying to be dense, but I can't figure out how to recreate what you did. Help? Anyone?

OK ... I found it now. Here is the additional detail that may help others.

    1) Press the righthand button on the bottom of the iDVD window (the DropZone Button, looks like a dashed square with an arrow going into it) OR under the Project Menu in the Menu Bar, select "Edit Drop Zones".

    2) Two thumbnails should appear at the bottom of the iDVD Window - one is labeled "Menu" and the other is labeled "Drop Zones". Practically invisible, in the center of the Menu thumbnail is a button that mutes or unmutes the sound.

    Thanks Fernando, for the tip!
