- Can you access the mail server via a computer or another device? Maybe the server is down?
- Have you tried the standard of resetting your iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.Mac Mini Early 2010 OSX 10.6.6, G4 MD OSX 10.5.8 - iPad 3G & G4 Touch, iOS 4
Yes to both - email sends and receives fine on other devices and my other email account sends and receives fine on this device. And this account, the one in question, receives fine on this device. Only refuses to send with that error message. And I tried the re-set procedure with no change. On some other devices/programs one enters the password separately for the incoming and outgoing servers - but on the touch I can only find one place to enter it for both. Is there some way to access the outgoing server account separately on the touch?
Thanks for any help.
I have the same problem with my ipod/email. It started yesterday (1st Feb) as well. My account is a btinternet.com account. I have also tried all the things suggested here and have made no progress.IPOD
I have now managed to get my email working again (with some help from my son). I changes the FETCH NEW DATA setting from PUSH MANUALLY to PUSH EVERY 30 MINUTES and hey presto I can send emails again !!IPOD
I've tried all the above on my iPod touch but no joy. I can receive mail, access internet via safari, but I can't send mail. I just get the message- Cannot Send Mail, The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.me.com" failed.
Calendar and address book sync normally with my desktop via mobile me.
Any other ideas anyone?mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.5.8), none
