    Thanks for the suggestion, GarryRobson!

    Hi
I have the same issue - Airport express not discoverable from either my Apple laptop or Mac. Airport hasnt worked for about 12 months (previously was fine). Out of the blue, mid December it started to work again. However, stopped working after a couple of weeks.

I cant seem to get the option to change channels in my set-up (i am guessing that perhaps i have an old airport express). I have tried the option of turning of IP-6 - didnt work. Have reset, re-configured - no change.

Strangely, what has worked - i have connected the Mac via ethernet to the wireless router and for reasons unknown to me, this works in connecting the iTunes to the stereo through the Airport Express. I'm also managing to now connect the laptop through the speakers as well, however Airport Express remains undiscoverable, so I am assuming that the Mac is picking up the Macbook and through the ethernet connection to the router to the AIrport Express is getting the signal through.

My uneducated assumption - there's something in the latest iTunes upgrade that is impacting the ability to discover the Airport express, but this does not impact the ability for the Airport Express to speak with the wireless router.

I'm sure there's a technical person out there that may be able to make more sense of this than me.

I have exactly the same issue with my AirPort Express that has been working perfectly for longer than a year. The issue appeared after updating the firmware to 7.5.2. I have tried almost everything to solve the problem, but it is still there.

Now, even the Channel 12 fix doesn't work.

I hope Apple will fix it.

maybe there are multiple causes for this problem, but switching wireless channels is at least one solution that worked fine for others and me. switched to channel 12, zero dropouts.
notice that you must select the channel on your router, not on the airport express. the AE automatically uses the channel # your router broadcasts on.

Firstly, switching to channel 12 worked for me. Now, it doesn't work anymore. I have these terrible drop-outs again!

I'm having trouble with my Express cutting in and out as well either with my desktop on iTunes or our laptop with Internet Radio. I read your solution - but I'm not that bright - I don't know what you meant by resetting Express to extend the wireless network connecting by Ethernet. Does that mean you connected an ethernet cord to your Express? Or is that simply a setting?

It is ITunes. I can stream fine with just an IPad, and I have my computer turned off. It is when I use the computer with the full blown ITunes 10. whatever they are on right now that everything goes to poops. First, the dropouts occur no matter what. Second, since upgrading to the terrible 10.whatever, I not only loose audio about once every 30 seconds, my AEX devices constantly are changing between green light, and flashing yellow light all day. For 6 years I have had no dropouts, and my three AEX's have worked flawlessly no matter what. Cue ITunes 10 and Apples attempt to integrate video and stuff into the picture and, boom, the whole system went beserk.

Since ITUnes forces it's customers to the latest software by not allowing new hardware to sync with 7, we are pretty much forced to deal with a system that is advertised to do one thing, and it falls so dramatically short. I have tried every channel, every gimmick posted on these boards, and nothing works. Every AEX worked flawlessly until ITunes 10, and now it *****. The latest update for Itunes that was released last week I think knocked out another one of my AEX's with the flashing yellow light. Been green for 6 years, now it is a POS ready for the garbage can.

Apple have done something to ruin the Airtunes system with these updates they are performing. It will be up to them to get it to work, but I am not wasting any more time (or money for that matter) on something that really isn't that complex, and has worked non stop for 6 years without any issue.

    Thanks Steve.

I'm pleased to report that iTunes 10.2 fixes this bug for me (well, on the wifi channel we're currently on anyway - it's kind of a jungle out here). Was forced to upgrade from 7.7 because I bought an iPhone 3gs off a co-worker, and I was anticipating changing my setup -using one router instead of two, running an ethernet cable etc- but as it turns out, I don't have to. Also, all self-added radio stations now seem to work reliably, as opposed to half of them skipping under 7.7.

@Chambone, would you post some details of your setup for the rest of us please?

    OS X version (10.5.? or 10.6.?)
    iTunes version (10.2!)
AEn firmware version (7.4.? or 7.5.2)
AX firmware version (7.4.? or 7.5.2)
wired or wireless connections with host computer / AEn / AX
Is AX joining or extending a wifi network, if wireless?
If wireless, signal type (g/n or n-only?)
    wireless channel
    time server (automatic?)

I apologize for grasping for so much, but with all of the "fixes" on this thread it would be nice to see if there is common solution.

    Thx

    No problem.

    OS 10.6.6
    iTunes 10.2.1
Got two AXes actually, one attached to the modem and a printer, and the other's behind the stereo with the ethernet port connected to a Sony blu-ray player, and the optical to a Cyrus preamp with DAC. Both on 7.5.2, both the 802.11n capable kind. Everything wireless.
The AX behind the stereo is joining.
Radio mode is set to b/g compatibility, because of the iPhone and a first gen MBP.
Channel is set to 3. I think the point is to keep away from neighboring routers with the strongest signal, and not necessarily from the channels that most routers in the neighborhood use.
    Time server boxes unchecked.

And I guess I should add that I stopped trying to get iTunes 8 and up to stream correctly since the iTunes 9.x days, mostly because of the hassle involved in rolling back to 7.7.

My point being that this apparent fix could have occurred earlier.

    Hi All,

    I'm running OS 10.6.7 and iTunes 10.2.1.

I'm just wondering if there's any sort of consensus on this terribly annoying problem. My music cuts out regularly. I have two airport expresses that I believe have the current updates installed. It sounds like many people are thinking the problem is fixed, then experiencing cut outs again.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

    Hi all,

I had the same problem as most of you.
I'm currently running windows 7 and itunes 10.2.1.1 and I solved it by updating the drivers of my wireless card.

I hope it helps you too.

Well, it is DEFINITELY in AirTunes within iTunes.

I purchased AirFoil and haven't had a problem since.

    HTH.
