Currently Being ModeratedFeb 7, 2011 9:27 AM (in response to Foxboy71)There was also a problem with a corrupted index which caused Spotlight to to try and continuously index the drive.

This was a workaround:
There seems to be a major issue with the latest version of ProKit ...2 x 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, Mac OS X (10.6.6), 16 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Currently Being ModeratedFeb 8, 2011 9:05 AM (in response to rosindabow)Update: Spotlight seemed to be causing all the problems. This is at least the sixth time in the last 4 years that Spotlight has caused my system to fail in some manner. I have one drive that Spotlight will not index. It starts at 15 minutes when I open it up and the time to finish keeps getting longer and longer instead of the other way around ... until ultimately, it says "estimated time to finish" and gives no estimate. I put this one drive in Privacy and all is well with the world. I'm going to try to add folders back in in groups and see if I can find the offending party.
I hate Spotlight - it has done nothing but cause me problems for years.2 x 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, Mac OS X (10.6.6), 16 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM

A lot of errors listed here pancenter-
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/DVCPROHDAudio.plugin/Contents/MacOS/DVCPROHDAudio: dlopen(/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/DVCPROHDAudio.plugin/Contents/MacOS/DVCPROHD Audio, 262): no suitable image found. Did find:
----------------------------------------------------------------------Listing my issue here simply being it's issue is related.
The portion of log above is the same as mine.
Add to that, some of these,
. PreferenceSyncClient: Preference plist was NOT a dictionary.
. Cannot find function pointer NewPlugIn for factory C5A4CE5B-0BB8-11D8-9D75-0003939615B6 in CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0x11320a390 </Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/DVCPROHDAudio.plugin
. event logs in /Volumes/HD#2/.fseventsd out of sync with volume. destroying old logs.
. UserEventAgent-LoginWindow: ALF error: cannot find useragent 1102
. Sleep - Filtered Sleep Failure Report - Power Button Shutdown - Apps Failure
. I just updated iTunes the other day.
The only major update.
This MP is doing the same thing, and now twice in the last hour.
You see a pop-up for just a moment, but can't review it when the box disappears before
fully reviewed or screen saved.
Pop-Up reports something about smart drive something issue.
But I do not see this listed about smart drive in console.
Viewed a video sample in 'Quick View', then clicked file to load in iTunes.
As it was loading, it quit before I knew what happened.
Selected movie tab in iTunes, and can't see the movie listed at all.
The list of movies don't show image covers, and don't play.
Select music, and none of the music will play, or load.
Select Finder/Applications to try to use Disc Utility for what ever reason, and
Application list won't load.
Within a moment, spinning ball begins, wait a while, then force it down with start button.
Restart, and it happened again shortly.
The MacPro Install Disc is loaded in the drive tray ready to try a drive test.
On restart with disc loaded, it says to hold 'C'.
Will try this later, if this continues.
It says to do back-up prior.
I have spare drive in bay 3, 1TB.
Would simply grabbing drive one and copy it over to drive 3 adequate.
Or is there a preferred process?
Thanks for any steps that should take place.
These heavier issues need more talent than I have.
Currently using MP at the moment, while stable.
I'll shut him down proper in just a moment, vs locked up forced off.
