Faint white smudge on screen, only shows against white backgrounds

Hi there,

My MBA has a small white bright spot on the screen, which only shows up on white backgrounds and disappears completely on black or mixed backgrounds. It cannot be a dead pixel as it is more diffused in appearance and isn't always on or off. I would be very grateful if anyone has any experience with this problem, in particular:

1. Are there any fixes for this that doesn't involve sending it into Apple?
2. Is covered under an Apple warranty?

Many thanks!

just to update - i took my macbook air to a genius and he said they'd usually have to send it away for a replacement screen, but as the machine was only two months old they simply gave me a brand new MBA ultimate. I wiped the machine (as I'd installed the lion preview) before the appointment so there was no transfer of data in store.
Even had a chat with the genius about Lion as he hasn't used it yet.
Really impressed with the service - I was expecting to have to plead my case!

I just fixed it! Ok so what you do is you need to go out and buy a screen cleaner for a couple of dollars. make sure you buy one that has liquid that you can spay onto the screen. Then just follow its instructions and most of the dots will go away! I used a brand called protocol.
