I am pleased to report that, after several days of heavy use, my Magic Trackpad is still working without problems. Also, iTunes always recognizes my iPhone. So unplugging the Mac and all USB device cables for a minute or two appears to be a real cure.
Sadly, my Magic Trackpad stopped working again yesterday morning, after more than a week of reliable performance. I did the unplug/replug drill again, and it started working again. Now, this afternoon, it has stopped working again. The unplug/replug drill has it working once again, but I no longer have any confidence that it will continue to work reliably.Quad Core Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

That works for me every time (luckily I've only had to do it twice).24" iMac 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo/1 TB/8 GB; MBP 17" C2D, Mac OS X (10.6.5), Parallels v5 with Win7 x64; iPod Touch 2G; iPhone 3GS (4.1); iPhone 4 (4.2.1)

It would discover the device but not pair with it. It was only being recognized as a generic trackpad.
For me, it when I attempted to discover the device, the Trackpad System Preferences dialog would first say...
Found "Apple Wireless Trackpad". I would click the continue button and after a few seconds, it would display a message stating "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful". But the setup window was also jumbled and out of sorts at this point.
I was just about to give up hope on this thing but I gave it one last search and then I found this thread. I uninstalled USB Overdrive and made sure that the aforementioned files were gone. I rebooted the Mac, and like magic, my Magic Trackpad is now working!24" iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.10), I love my mac
