I am using iCal and that seems to be my default calendar program. I have an old version of entourage still on my computer, but I haven't used it in over a year. My problem is that when I click on a link sent to me in iMail for an iCal invitation, my Entourage is launched, and the event is put in Entourage. How do I go about making my invitations go straight to iCal (the link actually says "iCal invitation!)? I've looked in iCal and don't see an option to set the default calendar (ie, the one that receives invites).

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

tried to click just once on the ical invite in the email, but it launches entourage immediately. when I then click apple i, (with the ical event highlighted), I get an account info window.

Ok then just hi light just dont open if it open s close then it will be hilighted then apple key and i then follow above instructions to change the application used to open file type in this case being .ics

Same as you would on a jpeg to use which every programme to open or a word doc execl file so that your comp is aware that ics needs to open ical

Melinda, I was having the same problem. I found that I could drag the invitation from my Mail message into the iCal icon (which is in my Dock).

    - iCal then shows a notification alert (a red circle with a number in it on the iCal icon)

    - Then I went to the View menu and clicked "Show Notificiations"

    - Then I was offered a chance to "Accept" or "Decline". I chose "Accept" and the event showed up in iCal.

Maybe there's a simpler, faster way to do it. But this worked for me.
