Is there a way to get the video shot on an iPhone 4 to the camera roll on the iPad 2 to use in iMovie, besides the camera connection kit? Syncing through iTunes through Photos only brings pics, not video, and syncing through iTunes through Video brings them to the iPad, but they do not show up in iMovie. Thanks!

iMac 27" 3.2 i3, Mac OS X (10.6.6), iPhone 4, iPad

Same problem. Have several of my home videos in the iPad. Can't figure out how to import to iMovie. Is there a serious tutorial or manual?

Don't know if this will help but have you tried one of the file transfer apps or maybe dropbox.

Nope, unless I am just not getting it, it looks like iMovie will only let me edit movies that I have taken using my ipad2 camera.

i am having a similar problem.. the videos from my camera show up in 'Photos' and i can play them there however when i goto iMovie.. it only shows my photos not videos i read somewhere that the video codecs must match what imovie is compatible with but i cannot for the life of me believe that my camera which is 3 years old can do video in a .mov container and imovie on an apple ipad 2 cannot see it? are we missing something or do i have to cnvert them on my pc before hand?

Obviously the videos need to be in the same format that the iPhone and iPad camera shoots videos in. I am not sure what format that is. I am sure there is a workaround that we can convert these videos, but it looks like we won't be able to import them directly from our cameras (sad).

I just used a video converter and converted my camera's .mov file to .mp4 apple compatible for ipad.. i can see them in 'videos' but i still cannot import them into iMovie.. hopefully someone will figure this out.. i am truly disappointed at this point.

I sent a video I shot on my iPhone to iMovie via the iTunes file sharing feature. Guess what. It ain't there. I think this is a half baked program or Apple intended it to only edit video from the camera. Either way it is useless because I'm not shooting video on my iPad that much. Big disappointment.

I wish I'd have figured this out all of 10 minutes sooner, ****..

You have to use the camera connection kit to transfer videos from the iPhone into iMovie, else it won't work.

I'm getting a little ticked, because I want to be able to import OTHER videos and use iMovie to do it.

Maybe if I put some on my SD card I can do it that way... Hmm, time to give it a try..

I wonder if, by using the camera connection kit, it will import movies from my hard drive to i-movie. Has anyone tried this?

I can't believe this isn't addressed anywhere. If I had known I could only edit video taken on my iPad I would never have purchased iMovie.

I've gotten movies taken on my iPhone 4 into iMovie on the iPad with no problem. Just import them from your iPhone into iTunes on your computer. Then, set the iPad to sync those movies (under the Photos tab). Make sure "include videos" is selected. Then, once they're synced over, iMovie will recognize them.

That's all fine and good . . . If you own an iPhone. I'm referring to video taken with other cameras.

    Fourth entry in the list.
The video has to be in your camera roll.
