In addition to a problem I detailed in a previous question, we're trying to deal with potential space issues down the road for an HD project we're doing.

One idea was to work in SD - that is down convert everything into the same SD format, work with those files, than after the edit's "finished," go back and replace the downconverted footage with the original full-res footage (and in cases where the footage was originally SD, upconvert those to a matching HD format as well).

Question is, does this make any sense? Like, will it be more problematic than it's worth? I imagine many hours would be spent media managing the HD footage back and forth....and would it really be that easy to swap out the downcoverted footage for the original uncompressed footage?
