OK, a little background. I have had LE 7.2 for quite awhile. I was doing a project with a friend across the country that used LE8. That's been a bit cumbersome, but we managed.

Now, we have both now purchased LE9. I installed mine today, registered it, repaired permissions, etc. I am able to open my LE 7.2 projects, but when I save, it wants to write a new file, rather than save over the original. That's OK if I have to do that, but annoying.

The crash comes when I try to open the key commands window. Since my old GarageBand days I have been used to the "z" key taking me back to the beginning of the song. So I wanted to change it. But I can't even open the window because it crashes every single time.

After reading up on crashes here, I want to say I DO NOT have Bootcamp or any windows anything. I tried trashing prefs, but to no avail.

Anyone have suggestions? I downloaded the pdf manual, thinking I'd get the default list, and I can just learn the commands there, but there's no list. And, it shouldn't crash anyway.

    Hi,

given you've already updated to 9.1.3:

    - any third party software, especially one that incorporates key commands?
    - clean re-install of Logic 9?
    - tried new user account?
    - ~/library/application support/Logic/Key commands (both user library and system library - my user folder is empty, the system folder has different language keyboard settings - check these)

    These are my thoughts.

    Hey Scott,
Hope you're fine apart from that crash!
I see you have some new "wheels" (24" iMac). : )

I've been away from this forums for the lack of time only, (from here since Logic Pro 8 came out)
also I'm on 9 Pro now.
I know there was issues with the import sessions from 7 to 8,
    from 8 to version 9 it's fine.

The Z key is by default auto track zoom, Return to go back to beginning. Apple + W (key commands)

On the Logic Pro forum there's still some great cats posting like; Eriksimon and others
that can smell crashes, see this one: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2785610&tstart=0

In you shoes, I would dare to go there and ask, if they can give you some light,
    they're posting every day.

Drop me a mail with your latest stuff, news etc. it's been some time without any news from you.
    Cheers mate,

    Jorge

Usually, it has something to do with the (username)/library files.
I would suggest to again check and delete all the preferences starting with (username)/library/preferences/com.apple.logic........
Then look up (username)/library/application support/logic/key commands -> is anything in there? If so, trash it.

I don't know if it's safe to delete the whole application support/logic folder - never had trouble like this before. But if you make a backup first, you could try this.

    Also: (user)/library/caches/com.apple.logic.express
    Also: (user)/library/caches/logic

If all of these don't work, maybe it's a font issue (although i don't think so) - check if there are any user fonts that cause any trouble.

Could the updates that made this install crash require a bit higher point version of the OS?

Is there a Pro Apps update for 10.5.x?

Have you tried applying/re-applying the 10.5.8 Combo...
