Q: Deleted voice mails keep reappearing

Sporadically, voice mails I've listened to and then deleted reappear in my visual voice mail. This problem just started happening after I upgraded to iOS 4. (I'm now running 4.1.)

Any idea how to fix this problem? Thanks!

This is happening to me too! Almost every day I get a big list of old voice mails from about a week ago. It's really annoying. Anybody know how to resolve this issue?

Me too. My voicemail was 100% full so I deleted a ton of voicemails and then a day later my mailbox was 100% full with the messages that I had deleted...so I deleted them again.....and....you guessed it...they re-appeard......so I deleted them again......and.....they re-appeared again. This is nuts. Help! People are not able to leave me voicemails because my phone won't let me make room!!!!!!

It may be a problem with visual voicemail itself. Access your voicemail the old fashion way (press and hold '1') and delete your voicemail inbox from there.

I have exactly the same problem with my Iphone 4 (ios 4.1)
The thing is, I can't use my visuel voice mail anymore!
When i call it the old way, there's no more messages! But on my Iphone, I still have 3 messages that I can't delete.
I'm in France, and I've already tried to call my phone provider who can't resolve the problem!
    Did anyone solve it ?

I am having the same issue after upgrading to iOS4.1 on my iPhone 4.

Even though I'm deleting messages faster than they come in, by voicemail keeps reaching "100% full" because deleted messages keep coming back!
    ARGH!

    Hi,

Try deleting them directly by calling your voice mail (old way)
And then you should normally be able to delete them on your Iphone.
My problem now is, I don't receive any notification when I have a new message and I can't read them on my phone : there's no message anymore in my visual voice mail, although I have messages when I call my voice mail!

Yes. Same frustrating problem here. Started about three weeks ago for me.

Vampire and zombie voicemail can't be killed. I keep deleting it and it comes back from the dead and people calling get the system message that my voicemail is full.

    Frustrating.

    Hello All,
Has everyone deleted the voicemails from their deleted voicemail folder as well? and from AT&T or your carriers server? so they don't just download again? try this just a suggestion.

I've had success overcoming this odd little problem by recognizing that there's delete, then there's delete. Not all delete's are equal. If I put a voicemail in the delete folder, it eventually pops up again in the voicemail main folder, on roughly a weekly basis. That's an irritating flaw. Note however that there is a deleted folder where deleted voicemails survive. Go to that folder. You then have the option of "clearing" that folder, which double checks and informs you that "clearing" is permanent. Problem solved. I'm not sure which Scientologist at Apple insinuated the formula that "clearing" > "deleting," but it's odd language, and odder yet to make them reappear in the main menu at regular intervals.

What a waste of time putting the local voicemail system on the iphone. First, it does delete voice mails even though it gives you the option. You have to call your number and delete the old fashion way. Apple should eliminate the feature since it is fluff and serves no real purpose.

Mine keep reappearing too. I have had AT&T reset my voicemail twice and it still happens on a weekly basis. Clearly this is a bug in the software. Perhaps the next iOS will fix it.

While I agree this is a frustrating bug that needs to be fixed by Apple, the work around is to go into your Visual Voicemail, tap on 'deleted messages' and then tap on 'clear all'. This way they are permanently deleted and will not have a chance of reappearing.

I have had this problem for a couple of weeks now. I even go into the "Deleted Messages" folder and Clear All Messages. I did that an hour ago and the messages just showed back up in the main folder. I am now 100% full again!!
