I need to contact the webmaster to obtain historical data about Apple.com. It is for my college class. An email would be great!

    Thanks,

    -Alexis

The Hosts who run this forum won't be able to help you: their function is to deal with problems directly related to the forum. You may be able to find a suitable contact on this page:

    Hello Roger,

sorry for butting into this thread, but I tried to send you a message over your profile and sadly didn't succeed (I'm new here...)

I have a similar question as above, as I basically would like to ask a webmaster/administrator if there is any way to post a link to an online survey I am doing on Apple communities for my dissertation on one of these forums.

Or in more detail, my question is here

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3150814

Perhaps you could give me a tip on how to reach someone who could help me, as it's quite urgent.

Thank you very much for your help!

    Cheers MMehl

    MMehl,

I reported your post under the "other" category. The hosts seem to have deleted it. Sorry. That wasn't my intention. I just wanted to get their attention so they might contact you with more specific information. Here is my reply that I couldn't post.

Such things can be accomplished, but they may take some preparation. One thing you could do is collect some preliminary research on the topic and post that, along with a link to your research. It would also be a good idea to have said link in your profile too. As long as the survey isn't the primary focus, it may pass under the radar. The hosts can always delete or edit your post if they don't like it. People have been banned (temporarily and permanently), but you really have to go off the deep end for that to happen.

Another option is to submit your request to other sites asking them what they think about this site. Some good possibilities would be:

    http://www.tuaw.com

    http://www.macintouch.com

    http://www.appleinsider.com

    http://www.macrumors.com

I'm pretty confident Ric Ford on Macintouch would post it. I don't know about the others. I definitely think it would be a good idea to establish your credibility with some initial research first. Everything is online, so scrape it and analyze it. I'm sure some people here would be interested in reading it. Then they would see your survey.

I doubt you'll be allowed to do this. The ASC Use Agreement includes the following (section 2-4):

    4. Do not post polls or petitions or links to same.

    Entresoft,

Thank you the ideas, and don’t worry about the deleted post. I had contacted apple via some other routes as well, and it seems there isn’t a way around the “no polls” policy, so I’ll have to adapt my research accordingly. Unfortunate of course, but I’ll see what I can do…

    Cheers
