Did Apple finally fix the issue of light bleeding from under the bezel or are defective iPad 2s
still being sold?

Anybody knows?

Since it didn't happen with every iPad 2 there would be no way for the users here to know.

If all people with defective iPads would post a message here to let us know,
when the messages end we would know the problem is mostly fixed at the production level.

Hence, I will lead by example:
iPad 2, bought on March 25, defective
iPad 2 bought on April 3, defective
iPad 2 bought on April 9, defective

    Next?

I bought my iPad launch day and have had no issues.

Do you want the hundreds of thousands of users who have never had a problem to post here as well?

No, I just want a list of iPads with screen issues, and the date they were bought.
It may serve as a reference to know when production problems have ended (mostly)

Apple may shut down this survey, but then again I'd hope that if they have nothing to hide...

I just tried again and got one that is possibly worse.

I don't know my exact dates but all were within the last few weeks or so.

Three weeks ago first iPad 2 - major screen bleed, loose screen and dust under screen.
Two weeks ago second iPad 2 - major screen bleed.
    Got a refund.
Today tried again and bought 64GB at&t iPad 2 - major screen bleed, in fact one corner, approximately 10-15% of the screen, is full-on light-leak/bleed.

    What do we do Apple?

Why not email Apple and see if they acknowledge that there is
a problem and when and if it will be corrected.

I have used every avenue of communication I can with Apple on this. They will not respond formally. Our options are:
1 - Exchange if you are inside 14 days.
2 - Get a refund if you are inside 14 days.
3 - Wait for issue to be resolved and "trust" that Apple will replace via warranty (I was told by every Apple Retail Store rep that my issue would be covered under warranty).

Now being on my third, I am still torn between them all but leaning towards 3. The device is a very nice device, it's just unfortunate that it's having the screen issues.

I had the same issue, I already had my iPad exchanged 4 times at apple and they told me to wait a couple months until the issue is fixed and then come back and just mention light bleeding and they will replace it with a fixed one, I have been to 3 apple stores, they are all close to my house, so I am gonna wait

My 64GB WiFi black model came in last week. Only VERY slight leakage. Cranked the brightness up all the way, put a bright photo on the screen, and put some books on it land left it for 4 hours.

No light bleed now. Not sure if the books did it, or the heat generated as it was warm.

I'm happy with it. Sold my iPad 1 this evening.

Please pardon my ignorance here, but with 40+ pages of posts on this issue I'm afraid I couldn't find the answer to my question any other way.

Is this a recommended solution to the light leakage problem: the high backlight + heavy books? I assume the weight of the books helps seat the glue holding the screen edges to the unit, correct?

My iPad2 arrives this coming Tuesday, and I'm very concerned that I may have ordered too soon. (Written on my iPad1, which is perfect in every respect.)

Thanks so much for any advice you can give!

    Hey everyone,

Just purchased my iPad 2 yesterday from the Apple Store in Birmingham. It was the last one left in the store so you can imagine how happy I was to get one finally! However I have also noticed mine is suffering from this backlight bleeding problem, in quite a few spots around the screen. I also have either a couple of dead pixels or a large piece of dust stuck under the glass in the middle of the screen, which is equally annoying. Will Apple exchange this for me? Should I ring up the nearest Apple store and see what they'll do? I love this device and just wanna get on and use it, but for the money I'm paying I don't think I should put up with defects. What's everyone's advice?
