Apr 16, 2011 6:03 PM in response to stevenfromtucsonby .M@,It will show it in the top left corner next to "iPad" if you are connected to a wireless network. To discover best signal coverage, open Settings > WiFi. And it'll show the strength with a faster ping.

Go to Settings, General, reset, reset network settings.

Apr 16, 2011 7:38 PM in response to red555by stevenfromtucson,That did the trick, thanks. The question is, what made it disappear in the first place? Hopefully, this post will help others and get Apple to fix this biug.
Note to others: Doing the reset did not forget my known networks as I did not have to re-enter my network keys.
