Life expectancy for the battery is about 350 cycles....I have not heard of a lot of folks getting their batteries replaced for free.....there was a recall on PowerBook batteries some years ago.....

If your battery is visibly swollen then call Apple or take it to a different Apple Store -- it is typical that, no matter what the battery age, Apple will replace it if its condition poses a danger. The response you've received is unusual. I had one friend take a 1-year-out-of-warranty machine in to an Apple Store in NYC 3 weeks ago for a swollen battery -- no other repair, replaced free of charge on the spot.

Yeah, I think the genius that serviced me was a manager? (everyone was wearing blue and he was wearing black...). He likened my battery to tires on a car...just because the tires are faulty doesn't mean a dealership replaces your tires for free. Do you think I can call them immediately and tell them to rescind the battery purchase on my repair account?
