Q: iTunes 10.1 Missing Text

Hi All,

I have problems with missing text in iTunes since 10.0, but it's just gotten much worse since I installed 10.1. Prior to 10.1, text was missing next to the colored legend showing how much storage of different types was in use on a device (e.g. iPad, iPhone, iPod). I would just get the colored box without saying what that box referred to (e.g. Music, Video, etc...) or how much storage was actually in use.

Since installing 10.1, I now have pretty much no text anywhere on that page. On the 'Summary' tab for a device, the only text showing is the headings of each section (e.g. 'iPad', 'Version' and 'Options'. Even the names of the tabs up the top are gone, as is all the text about version, text on buttons, everything.

Also, the tabs at the top of the iTunes Store are gone. There's now just a 'Home' icon, and nothing else (no Music, Apps, Movies, Ping, etc.).

Also, the status window up the top shows the progress bar, but no text.

I assume this is probably something to do with Windows fonts, but it's dramatically changed since 10.1...Help!!!

I have the same problem with missing text on the itunes device page.

I see you've got Vista. Have you tried Vortical's technique yet? (The post with the technique is in this thread.)

I'm half way there. I did what voritcal suggested and some of the text is there but not all of it. I noticed in my font folder I have Segoe UI Bold 4 times, Segoe UI Bold Italic 3 times and Segoe UI Italic 3 times. Is this a problem?

I had the exact same issue with my Windows XP 32-bit system and Vortical's fix posted on Nov 16 2010 @8:44AM fixed the problem. Had a missing Font that iTunes obviously needs. Something iTunes should verify during the install process I would think.

    All,

Many thanks for the contributions here. Not only did Eric's patch fix iTunes, it also fixed the same issue with Quicken 2011.

    Regards,

    Mike

I've ignored the text missing from the iPhone tabs, but now I need it. Trying to activate a new iPhone which probably has a hardware problem, but ran into this mess on iTunes. I downloaded Windows Live (which I so do not need) to get the Segoe UI font, went through the font update as posted, and rebooted. No go on resolving missing text. My iTunes is latest version... I'm thinking it's time to uninstall and get a new install of iTunes?

    Hi,

I spent an evening to try to resolve the issue, including reinstalling the fonts-folder from the shaddow. My system is a Vista 64 bit system configured with UAC (user account control). I found that the fonts in the windows fonts folder (c:\windows\Fonts) are only visible to administrators.

So i ended up by starting iTunes as administrator (right click the iTunes shortcut and 'run as administrator'. Don't connect the iPhone before but start iTunes first. All texts will magically appear.

Off course, this solution requires the user to have administrator privileges!

I consider this a bug in iTunes - somesthing must have been changed in the way the fonts for the display device page are accessed.

Good luck, I hope this gets fixed soon!

Now my fonts is with a "_0" of the font name i.e arial_0.ttf after reinstalled the fonts..

Why have had changed ??   I have to guess the blanks buttons when connected to my two ipad2s.
