Q: Apple Hardware Test 2.0.2 for PowerMac MDD 1.25 Single.

Hello people,

No amount of searching has helped me to locate the individual disc image that shipped with this model of Mac that I want to test.

It's the last 1.25 single processor MDD released in 2003. I'm not sure, but I think the part number is:

OS X 10.2.7, Hardware Test 2.0.2, part#691-4567-A

Is there just one version of AHT 2.0.2 or model specific versions as well?

Cheers, R.

G4 1.42DP MDD, 2GB, 120GB, x800XT, 10.5.8 Server, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 5500 Director (250), 6100 (66), G3 Minitower 233 + Desktop (233), B&W G3 (350). LC, LCII

    Catchmaiden,

You can call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a small fee, a replacement set of system discs (if available), can be ordered. The discs will be for the original version of OS, that was pre-installed, when the Mac was manufactured.

     Cheers, Tom

    Hi everybody.

Hi japmac. Obviously, you the man to contact for what i need.

Like all of you, i'm seeking the AHT 2.0.2 for my PB G4.

That's strange, when i use the safe mode start, it boot, but the screen feel like sike, with vertical bands ...

when the screen become black, with the ON/OFF sign, the screen if perfect, so it's not the graphic card. In safe mode, my PB start, with this strange screen, and i can work with it, so the motherboard is OK. Sometimes, the image become red, then blue, ...

I guess there is an hardware problem. I do need this test to fix it, I hope.

    Best regards

Apple no longer has any PowerPC anything in stock.. I don't know where you got the notion that this is so, but I just got off the phone with them and they have nothing PowerPC anymore.

Hi, it sounds like the Fraphic Card is bad, which IS part of the Logic Board unfortunately.

BTW, your eMail doesn't show in your profile, so nobody with clues on AHT could contact you.

It's a nightmare to send a email via this platform ...

    Hey Damien,

We are all in shock over Steve's passing. I never met the man, but I enjoy using the products he helped bring about. As to AHT 2.0.2 - I have it, but it is too big to send as an email attachment.. or maybe I am thinking of the Service Diagnostic.. I will have to check to make sure 2.0.2 is what I have. I had the same G4 MDD as you except mine was 1.2.7 AHT. Let me see if that will work for you.

Hello I am new to the forum but not new to macs. I recently acquired a used PowerBook g4 12" 867 40 gb hd, 128 mb ram and, Osx 10.4 for $10.00 at one of our local recycle centers here in Hawaii . The computer works good for a little bit then starts beeping at me and the keyboard and trackpad quit working right. I have figured out from apple website that I need apple hardware test 2.0.2 for PowerBook g4 12".  I would greatly appreciate it if someone on here who has a copy can e-mail it to me.

    Thank You Lee

Hi Lee, & welcome to the forums!

If somebody did have clues for you, you're the only one that can see your email addy in your profile.

In the meantime, might try this...

The Memory test can really only be trusted if it finds a problem, not if it doesn't find a problem.

Thanks bdaqua. Not sure how do I make my E-mail addy visible?

Heres a note I almost forgot about. If I restart the computer it fixes the problem temporarily then does it again as per my earlier post. The beeping and the keyboard not working right. I also have a question I cannot find an answer to. Can 10.4 cause this issue? as the computer only has 10.4. The computer doesnot say anything other then version 10.4 in about this mac. My mothers powerbook g4 ti. says 10.4.11 as version so I am assuming that I only 10.4 and no updates. The powerbook only has 128 MB stock ram on motherboard and then one empty ram slot. Specs are powerbook g4 12" 867 mhz 128 mb ram 40 gig hd.

    thank You Lee

The PowerBook does not have enough RAM to properly run OS X 10.4x.

You need 256 MB or more.

The beeping is surely not due to the OS version, but all issues are likely due to inadequate RAM.

Thank you Japamac. I can get the ram chip for about 8 dollars at the recycle center where i got the computer and I would still like to have apple hardware test 2.0.2 for 12" powerbook G4 in case the ram doesn't solve it.

    Thank You Lee
