May 4, 2011 10:59 PM in response to iFrodoby tinbie, seems like Apple still isn't doing lot about it.
I swapped mine with an 27" ACD as my 24" was a new bought for only 1 week they had to take it back.
I'm from Belgium and I assume it was the only store still having a 24" on stock.
The 27" was a bigger cost but its worth it

May 4, 2011 11:16 PM in response to DanRybby iFrodo,Ok, I got 2 blackouts too. It's definitely better and less frequent, but still there.
The screen itself needs a firmware update I think. Hope it'll come very soon...

May 5, 2011 12:26 AM in response to iFrodoby msinanian,I've had the software + EFI update installed for about 2 hours now and the black outs, jitters, and glitches are back! The same symptoms as before, nothing's different!
Holy moly! What is the problem??!?

May 5, 2011 12:29 AM in response to DanRybby jyang86,After the update, I still saw the problem, so I reset my pram like someone suggested. So far, I haven't seen the problem appear yet. Fingers still tightly crossed...

May 5, 2011 12:59 AM in response to jyang86by msinanian,I reset my SMC and PRAM and still got blackouts within 2 minutes of restarting. That did no-(just blacked out)-t do the trick...

May 5, 2011 1:16 AM in response to jyang86by msinanian,You know, when Customer Relations (not Support, this is Relations: the people you rant to when you really need to be made happy), told me that only IF the update failed, then they'd get around to throwing a 27" my way, I really didn't think the update would fail. Seriously.
But come tomorrow, I'm knock-knock-knockin' on Customer Relations' door with a ticket that says "27-inch Apple Cinema Display" on it. I'm sick of this.

May 5, 2011 1:33 AM in response to DanRybby jacblinde,Hi,
I just come back from the Apple Tech, where I did update (EFI + soft) installation. Like everyone, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I just note that it was not an ACD firmware update, just for the macbook.

May 5, 2011 1:49 AM in response to DanRybby jacblinde,I've not waited that much: my first black flash after the update. Grrrrrrrrr

May 5, 2011 4:15 AM in response to DanRybby El Presidente,Wth man is it REALLY that hard to fix this issue?!
I was all happy at news of the update but now it seems it doesn't solve anything. I'm really starting to become irritated/lose patience and wish i hadn't upgraded/sold my old Late 08 MBP. Lesson learned...never jump in on a new anything from Apple...wait for at least a month to know what issues pop up and which ones are fixed/fixable. Otherwise sit tight.
Apparently the new iMacs lack SATA III ports and have yellowish tints towards the bottom of their screens.

May 5, 2011 5:00 AM in response to El Presidenteby Condios,I concur: this update did NOT solve the issue between my 15" MacBook Pro 2011 and my Led Cinema Display 24". Even disabling automatic graphics switching in the power preferences pane, does not improve on the problem.
I have to agree that I also do not understand what could be so hard in correcting this problem, unless, off course, it is a hardware issue related to thunderbolt.
This update didn't do any good (1.4)

May 5, 2011 6:18 AM in response to Condiosby suliko,Same here - I ran the update about an hour and half ago, in the process I also reset PRAM and SMC... subsequently I have still had intermittent blackouts (which were less frequent than before) but I have just had the first fragmentation as well. So still nowhere near fixed.

May 5, 2011 6:31 AM in response to DanRybby lachness,I have done the software update and the firmware update on my MacbookPro 2011. Within 5 minutes my 24 ACD was flickering again.
Maybe I will try standing on my head and see if that fixes it.

May 5, 2011 6:33 AM in response to DanRybby mjz12956,MacBook Pro owners will want to check out MacBook Pro Software Update 1.4, which addresses graphics issues, external display support, 3D performance, and Thunderbolt device support.
Once MacBook Pro owners have installed that software update, they can install the MacBook Pro EFI Update 2.1, which fixes an issue with Turbo Mode in Boot Camp, and resolves issues with graphics and Thunderbolt. As is typical of EFI updates on laptops, you must plug in your MacBook Pro before beginning the installation.
The last paragraph is critical - trying it now. I will give it the better part of the day and see if it resolved the issues.
