Go into you're Applications and scroll to the bottom and find whats called the Utilities folder and "click" it.

After doing that in that folder look for a Activity Monitor, once you find it click it. When your in the activity monitor

look in the box for the "macprotector" or possibly a another name it could be under and the top left corner

highlight the program an click Quit. After you do this in top right corner in the spotlight try finding the files and

deleting them. Was this helpful? Let me know.

Thanks for replying to this initial question.  It's helped me greatly.

    Cheers

Thank-you for the clear instructions.  We all shake our heads at people who get tricked into a scam.  Today you call all shake your head at me.  Lesson learned to this brand new MAC user with a cancelled credit card.

Thank you. I was finally able to trash that awful thing. This is the first time I've had to deal with malware of any sort. so I do appreciate the help and will remember how to access this should I ever need it again. I was especially upset about the gay **** site that began poping up on my screen. Not the thing an old lady wants to see, believe me!
