We only have one hdmi inut to use. We have connected the hdmi from the tv to the apple tv. But have nothing happening. The instructions state make sure the input setting you've selected on your tv matches the input you connected the cables to on your tv. I don't know where this is suppose to be done?

If I'm interpreting correctly, then:
Some TVs have more than one HDMI port, so if for example you have the Apple TV plugged into HDMI port 3, the instructions are telling you to select HDMI 3 as your input source using your remote. if you only have one HDMI port you will only have one HDMI option in your tv's input selection list. Cycle your input source options until it says HDMI.

The Apple TV will only work with HDMI.
I'm not quite sure whether you are having difficulties finding the physical port on the back of the TV or selecting it to display on your screen via the remote.
I'm using an iPad and can't post images but the port you are looking for on the back of the TV will look identical to the HDMI port on the Apple TV and the inverse of the plug on the end of your HDMI cable.
When it comes to selecting it, only video from one source at a time can be displayed on screen. You may need to refer to your manual to find which button this is, but it might say AV or source or input or have a screen shape with an arrow coming from it. Pressing this button repeatedly should cycle you through options such as DTV, TV, AV, RGB, EXT, HDMI etc.
Sorry if I'm not understanding you fully.

I ran into the same issue, trying to set up Apple TV to Sony. Here's what worked for me.
Use TV remote. Hit Menu button. Select External Inputs.
I found my Apple TV on 7. But it was named "Skip," which I assume is why it doesn't come up in the input rotation. I changed the name to nothing (top option on list), and now I can see Apple TV.
Now I just need to figure out how to get the Apple TV to speak English instead of French!
Hope this helps.

Hi Debbis, Did you ever figure this out? I have an Apple TV that worked fine on my newer Visio tv but then tried to hook up to a older Sony KLV-S26A10 (I guess that's a Bravia). This Tv has a HDMI (labeled) port and also some audio ports. I plugged in the cable from the ATV to the HDMI port and I get nothing at all. I tried the turinig off and on but still nothing. I also do not have any external inut that says HDMI - I have 6 video external inputs but that's it. And there is nothing on the remote to help. I sent an email to Sony support with no response yet but maybe Apple support wouod have better answer. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
