When I first got my Iphone 4, the 'Bloom'  text tone sound was about 5-6 secondes but now all over sudden it change to another sound and only last 3 secondes. How can I get the first 'Bloom' sound that came with my phone??

iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.2

    You cannot.

This is the way it is now.  It was changed in the last upgrade because enough people complained about the long text tones.

You can't please everyone every time.

you know, i'm getting old, and i haven't been around the iphone for a real long time, and i know what you're saying is on the record, however...i see way more people complaining about the tones being shortened then i ever saw complaining about them being too long.

I'm glad I found this link. I noticed my Bloom sound was wrong as well and thought it was my phone.

To the guy that said "that's the way it is" I call foul.  This is a lame update.  Apple can provide an abridged tone for those who want it but I want my original Bloom sound back! The update *****!

Can anybody advise on how to get the original Bloom sound back?

Use Google and put iOS 4.2.1 on it or jailbreak your iPhone.

Why are you calling "foul" on roamingnome for stating the facts? He didn't do the update, he is just a user like you. And the complaints about the long, obnoxious text tones weren't just from iPhone users, they were from people sitting in a public place with the iPhone users who had the long, obnoxious text tones.

I'm guessing the additional 17 text tones were included in firmware and the ham-handed truncation was all Apple could do to subdue them.

I don't care what somebody sitting next to me thinks about my iPhone ring. It's not like the sound is offensive like a f*rt.  Just sayin'. Everybody who's ever heard the sound has commented to me that it sounds like Bewitched and laughed.  Either way, I still call foul. It's a lame update. My two cents.

Wasn't objecting to your calling foul, you directed your comment to another user who just stated the facts, which is pretty lame. Just my opinion.

What you thought was not offensive may have been so to someone else.

Send your opinion and your two cents here:

And while you are sending it to Apple why not also say you want Custom text tones which would solve the whole issue.

Ah OK. Wasn't trying to be flamey. Wasn't trying to shoot the messenger. I just didn't like the change. Maybe Apple should poll actual users of the beloved tone instead of changing my preference without asking. Thanks for the tip. Still looking for the longer version if anybody has it.

I don't think the version of the text tone has changed so trying to find an older one won't help. I believe Apple has included software that truncates the tone, poorly at that. So you would have to be running 4.2.1 to actually go back to its full glory, as well as Choo Choo (which is now Choo) and others.
