Hi there,

Long ago I asked about this here --> https://discussions.apple.com/message/11538905#11538905

I cant use it, because it's archived now, but if i tried all this, is there even a next step?

What could i possibly be doing wrong?

Would you have a better idea of whats wrong with a screenshot of the error that pops up?

    Hi,

So you have managed to Extract and install Photo Booth ?

You have managed to Extract and Install the Compositions folder ?

You have run the latest COMBO OS updater for the Level of the OS the computer is at ?

What is in your Compositions Folder ? (the one in Hard Drive/System/Library/Compositions)

This is a pic of the Default Order.plist from inside the Compositions folder

These are the ones you are supposed to have.

Excellent! There is nothing in my compositions folder so this must be the problem!

How do I fix this? Is that folder also something I extract of the start up disc, I never did this before when trying.

    Hi,

This is the Users Tip on how to Reinstall iChat

The reason I link you to this as it has how to do it with Pacifist and includes a pic of where you need to look.

In this Pic there are numbered Arrows

You need only concern yourself with opening things to Arrow 3 in the first place.

Then you need to go to Applications just below that and get Photo Booth.

Next Open the System folder at Arrow 4 and the Library at Arrow 5

You can see Compositions a small  way down from there.

(you will notice that the bit System/Library/Compositions matches where it is on  your Hard Drive)

The Menu bar of Pacifist has the options to Install or Extract.

You need to Install Photo Booth and the Compositions folder.

Now the Instructions I linked you to say that you now have to Update the OS (again) using the COMBO version of the Last Update you have done.

This is because in iChat's case the Updates come with the OS.

I am not sure if Photo Booth has ever had an Update between the major Upgrades (10.5.x to 10.6 for instance) but it will pay to download and install the COMBO anyway to be sure.

    Okay

Am I supposed to delete photo booth and the Compo folder before I install them off the disc?

and when I clicked the folder is there supposed to be anything in it?

    Hi,

It should not be necessary to delete either.

However when you go to Install Photo Booth you may get a message that says you are installing an Older version that the one you have.  (I was under the impression that you had deleted it)

If you have not  Deleted it does it work apart from the Effects ?

The Compositions Folder on the Install Disk should have things in it when you look in Pacifist.
