Photos for MacYou can't but here's a hack that might help:
1 - open the library like this in the Finder.
2 - in the Database folder move this file to the Trash: Faces.db.
3 - close the package/folder and launch iPhoto. Close it after a moment.
4 - open the package, find the new version of the file and lock it via the Info window for the file.
5 - while viewing the contents of the package type Command+F to start a search.6 - set the criteria of the search to: Kind is Image and Name Contains "face".
7 - select all of the files in the search results window and drag to the Trash.
8 -close the package and launch iPhoto.
You will get the faces spinning wheel as it tries to index the library the first time it's opened but it won't be able to write to the database file if you should try to add a face and won't create any new jpeg faces files. Of course make a backup of your library before trying this and no guarantee implied.

Jun 11, 2011 2:00 PM in response to Terence Devlinby barmherzigkeitmusik,What is your problem, Terence? Just let people vent if they wish. Not every comment has to contain a question.
By the way, thanks Old Toad for the tip.

Photos for MacYou're welcome.
Just let people vent if they wish.
Because it's prohibited by the Terms of Use and we get enough whiners. We have better things to do than cull thru them to find those who are looking for help.
Without the TOU it would be full of them like the iWeb and MobileMe communities are not. It's not being enforced there right now because Apple hasn't offered its final word on the final disposition of web hosting and MMe galleries. Once they do I suspect those communities will be culled of the non "help" posts.

Photos for MacThere's no way to turn off Faces entirely. You can disable it to some degree so that face photos will not be produced and saved. iPhoto will still scan for faces but not create any mini face image files. Here's how:
Thanks for OT's Missing Manual on FACES. I don't like FACES either, but I am not venting. I go to the MobileMe forum for that.
I have a work around. I avoid shots with people in them. If I have to have people, I shoot them from the neck down or from the back.
I am very disappointed with Faces. How come it doesn't show you the persons phone and credit card records like on the crime TV shows?

... unfortunately iPhoto Faces is still looking for a match. And they're all over President Lincoln! I think Apple should rename it "iPhoto Facepalm":
The act of dropping one's face / forehead into one's hand. Usually accompanied by D'oh!!!
