Add me to the list that I am sure will grow. Happens from MacBook, iMac, iPhone, and iPad.

Same error code here on windows xp and my iphone. Hopefully they are just doing something to the store.

Exactly the same here (though iMac instead of Mac Pro!) - have seen advice elsewhere to repair and/or manually reset permissions on iTunes Music folder but this didn't help.

I remember it happening ages ago when we still had Shopping Carts, but I can't see how to fix it this time. I can only assume it's something to do with the possible iCloud links for this coming Monday...?

One other piece of advice suggested removing any apps with blank icons (of which I have several - presumably indicating that the files are corrupted?) but I'm unwilling to do this as some of these are no longer available for fresh download...?

Having problems on iPhone, iPad and my Mac mini - must be iTunes Store.

Also seems to be the case on the App Store (but of course they're linked) - slightly less specific error but it has the same effect.

it looks like this is an international phenomenon ... when I try to sign into my iTunes account on my computer, I also get the 5002 error ... earlier on, updates didnt show, even if they were already available, then that was fixed, now that ... maybe something to do with the upcoming WWDC event, iCloud or such ... hope this resolves quickly!

I also get error 5002 on mac, ipad, iphone... I´m located in Germany.

Twitter is full of complaints about the problem.

Apple you just lost 5€ ´cause I cannot rent a movie

Would be interesting how much money they loose while the store is offline. But I´m sure no one will tell us.

Me too.  Must be a store issue.

Same issue persists on both mobile and laptop. I can sometimes connect if I just let a little time go by then try to get back in. It seems to be an issue on Apple's side.

I got it too. I'm in Indonesia. When I try to update the free app directly from my iPhone, it didn't update, just sit there like nothing happen. I tried to update via itunes on my laptop, then I got those 5002 error.

I can't even play songs I purchased from iTunes! Haven't tried purchasing. Was just trying to listen to my library. Why are there no replies from Apple on this board about what's going on?
