I will say this, I found out that AT&T does uploads over 3G at night (usually around 3AM) in large quanities.

This does not happen.  AT&T's billing lumps data usage over night, but nothing is uploaded (Wi-Fi or 3G).

They do this instead of billing every time your iPhone initiates a data session.

Turning off Find My iPhone helped improve my battery life considerably.

You can find almost identical threads for every version that has been released since the first in 2007.

True, but one of the selling features of the iphone 4 was improved battery life.

And if you are not getting improved battery life there is something wrong, most likely an app that is either sending data or trying to send data and failing. Once you identify that app the problem will go away. But this problem has been around since the beginning of iPhone time, with every model and every iOS release, and sometimes it happens randomly, not associated with any particular release. Just below this message you will see one solution that worked for one person. But the reduced battery life is a symptom of something else, so this solution may not work for you. For some it is fixed by disabling Ping, or Game Center, or App Store or iTunes store or by deleting an Exchange account, rebooting and adding it back. And some have found that the problem is Facebook or other apps that get frequent updates.

actually yes they do. I have the bill to prove. Please don't argue with me. I have it in black and white.

No you do not.  What you have is a mis-understanding of how the billing process works.

It's not called arguing, it's called correction of mis-understood facts.

I do understand. At&T USED to bill every little thing on the data plan. Remember the 900-page boxed bills that came out when the iPhone first came about?

To fix the issue, ATT just started to report data usage in "spurts" or "sessions". So that each tower that you connected to, would put together a basic "status report" of how much data was used for that tower and a particular time of day.

The issue seems to be how this information is collected at or around the 1-3am mark. So as you use data during the day, from what I can tell, it is "logged" but not collected or reported until the end of the day to get a daily status. Which seems to be LARGER than normal. Because I had issues with this previously, as well as many of other users are having, where after a certain OS update, they start getting large amounts of data at weird hours of the night. EVEN though I never changed my daily data habits, because I noticed it after i update from 4.1 to 4.3.1. It has been happening since last June 2010. No one seems to have a REAL answer, but this seems to be the "explanation" that keeps getting excepted everywhere. I am not happy about it at all, but the fact that I am on "unlimited" it doesn't technically affect me.

What version of iOS is your iPhone 4 running? Many people on either 4.3.2 or 4.3.3 have been complaining about poor battery life.

currently I am running the "tracking" version 4.3.2 before they updated to 4.3.3 which was supposed to remove the "tracking bug"

You have that backwards. Many people who are complaining about poor battery life are on 4.3.2 or 4.3.3. That's because the people who had poor battery life on 4.2, 4.1, 4.0, 3.1.3, 3.1.2, 3.1, 3.0, 2.2, 2.1 or 2.0 complained about THEIR poor battery life when those releases first came out. Poor battery life issues have affected some phones since the beginning of iPhone time. There's nothing special about the latest releases being unique with battery life problems.

Dont worry just yet, if you updated to iOS5 then thats your problem.

The new software is sucking power out of the battey.

My iPad 2 has been charged all night and after being on WiFi for 1 hour, its only at 35%.

I believe Apple will fix this in their next software update but for now, the 100% mark aint going to be sticking about for very long.

Way to dig up an old thread an add irrelevant information to it.  Try reading the thread before posting.

At the time of the last post prior to yours, it was impossible for anyone to be running iOS 5 with the exception of developers as it had not been released yet.
