Oct 19, 2010 5:37 PM in response to Repentby iPod Whisperer,That is bizarre. Check the options for that podcast. In itunes, right click on the podcast tracks and look at all the options. See if there is setting to cut them short, or something like that.
Also, what format are these podcasts that do this? Do the get info thing on them and note what they are. Bit rate, all that stuff. Then look at the ones that don't do it, are they different?

Oct 20, 2010 9:34 PM in response to iPod Whispererby Repent,You have to be a member of Wretched Radio. Wretched Radio as well as Wretched TV are Christian talk radio/TV. They are at wretchedradio dot com. They charge $5.95 a month and produce a lot of material. Good edification that.
I sent an email to their tech guys about this cutting off issue. They hadn't heard of it. If it did this on every podcast that would be one thing, but only one podcast, all episodes? -
Oct 21, 2010 1:07 PM in response to Repentby iPod Whisperer,Ah... ok. Oh well, thought I would see if the same thing was happening on mine with that podcast.
Did you see any difference in the file type info between that podcast and ones that are working?

Nov 29, 2010 11:08 AM in response to Repentby Magnus Lewan,I have the same problem with NPR's Story of the Day, and some other podcasts as well. It is very strange, but not that disturbing, as they rarely say anything useful during the first or last few seconds of the program. -
Dec 2, 2010 7:10 PM in response to Repentby jabit,Having the same problem with some of the talk shows that I listen too. The next show immediately starts with 20 to 40 seconds left. I even tried specifying when to stop the podcast (get info/options) for each podcast, but the skipping continues. -
Dec 3, 2010 1:56 PM in response to jabitby iPod Whisperer,First, I would try re-downloading the ones with the problem. Just to make sure.
Next, re-check those options under get info to make sure something is not set in a way that might cause this.
I have tried this with a few different NPR podcasts and cannot make it happen. Can you copy and paste the names of ones that are causing this?

Jan 8, 2011 2:28 PM in response to iPod Whispererby Repent, bought a second 4th gen shuffle and it does the exact same thing. Why on earth would this device NOT play podcasts correctly but plays music just fine? -
Jan 11, 2011 10:29 AM in response to Repentby jkbrennan77,I have a similar issue but I believe it occurs on all podcasts. 4th Gen Shuffle, cuts off the last few seconds of NPR Story of the Day, NPR World Story of the Day, NPR Planet Money, 60 Minutes, etc. -
Jan 11, 2011 11:25 AM in response to jkbrennan77by Repent,It does appear that this is happening on all podcasts. What's up Apple??
I've tried buying another shuffle and it does the same things. I've tried switching the file type from podcast to music, deselecting all options on the main page, creating playlists, everything i can think of. I can take thewe same podcasts and put them on my 2nd gen shuffle and they work fine, hence, there are no issues with the podcasts themselves, but in the OS on the shuffle.
Come on Apple, quit breaking things! -
Jun 17, 2011 12:14 PM in response to Repentby lilyfromvancouver,I just bought an iPod Shuffle and had this very same issue happen too. Like you, I loaded it with Wretched Radio podcasts and The Dividing Line podcasts (James White "AOMin" podcasts) and it cuts off the last 30 seconds or so of the podcasts as well.
I bought the blue iPod Shuffle about 3 or 4 weeks ago and after a week of noticing this happen, I brought it back to the Apple store in Vancouver, BC at Pacific Centre Mall where I the Genius Bar guy who helped me, Emilio Da Silva, told me it was a hardware issue. I basically exchanged it for another blue iPod Shuffle. Then I went on a trip out of town for two weeks. I noticed the same issue happening on this second iPod Shuffle. I'm about to bring it back to the Apple store again.

Jun 17, 2011 12:15 PM in response to lilyfromvancouverby lilyfromvancouver,By the way, there was one Wretched Radio episode that played straight through but every other one would get cut off at the end. So it seems like it's almost random.... but MOST of the times it cuts off the ending. Like, 99% of the time.

Jul 29, 2012 11:24 PM in response to Repentby jamakarios,I just bought a new ipod shuffle last week and it is also doing the same thing...and with wretched podcasts and others Dave Wheaton's show cut off too but only the last seconds and last week it was a Dividing Line podcast . Not much is cut off at the end but it's frustrating. It means I have to remember to give the last moments a listen when I am at the computer. I loved my old ipod shuffle that my kids gave me back in 2006. Please Apple...why did you mess with something that was so handy-dandy.
